Forums - Nintendo Discussion - UPD:3DS still having supply issues in the USA at least! Nintendo finally restocks black and galaxy style New 3ds xl and MK7 2DS!

http://www.polygon.com/2016/12/19/14006908/where-to-buy-a-nintendo-3ds End of December

* Pokemon go mania led 3DS to sell a lot more than what Nintendo was planning to ship/produce, then Pokemon S/M were released in November, and 3DS sell all of its stock in the USA at least. Edit: Nintendo didn't expect such a boost from Pokemon go and when they saw it, they underestimated its duration.

( 2DS sold out earlier than new 3ds xl )

Nintendo still hasn't restocked it as of now, only shipping a specific amount in stores

P.S

Nintendo had released pikachu new 3ds xl on the 24th of february causing a huge boost in hardware sales according to npd ( mainly due to january sales being low ) , that thing as expected sold out very fast, currently not a single store has one.  As for the other new 3ds xl variants, check in stores or third party sellers ( which of course sellt them at a higher price by 50$ ). This was a first endeavor of replenishing the shelves, a failed one given that the new edition stock depleted quickly.

Seems like they just aren't pushing them out to retailers enough. I've seen supply strains on 3DS since holiday season (last time I actually walked into a retail store). Sure it is expected to maybe have supply strains during holiday season but there isn't excuse for it now. Seems like they are treating the 3DS like the NES Classic Edition. I understand they are focused on Switch but there is no reason to lose sales on 3DS especially when it is real portable system.

...but switch has supply issues too...

Nintendo released new 3ds xl pikachu edition on the 24th of february, it had a great sales perfomance and sold out fast... What would you expect? The first ever pikachu new 3ds xl variant+ scarcity of the hardware in Jan+Feb.... ( of course you're aware of these since I infer from your comment that you're working at a major usa retailer )

Maybe that's why they discontinued nes mini because they're unable to produce enough units for three different products with so high demand.

I think I seen it possible to get the standard New 3DS XL models, I am not sure about any other models.

(You know what, i just looked at the American versions of each supplier, it is eeriely sold out, so Canada is well stocked, but America isn't).

I work manufacturing not retail. I was saying I noticed stock issues the last time I was in retail stores. As for NES Classic Edition they used it for some boosted sales during holiday season but now Switch is out they would rather have people pay $5 per NES game on VC than sell 30 for 60 through the NES Classic Edition.

I've noticed this here in Canada, but there are still some models still in stock, just most are not
