Seems like they just aren't pushing them out to retailers enough. I've seen supply strains on 3DS since holiday season (last time I actually walked into a retail store). Sure it is expected to maybe have supply strains during holiday season but there isn't excuse for it now. Seems like they are treating the 3DS like the NES Classic Edition. I understand they are focused on Switch but there is no reason to lose sales on 3DS especially when it is real portable system.

...but switch has supply issues too...

Nintendo released new 3ds xl pikachu edition on the 24th of february, it had a great sales perfomance and sold out fast... What would you expect? The first ever pikachu new 3ds xl variant+ scarcity of the hardware in Jan+Feb.... ( of course you're aware of these since I infer from your comment that you're working at a major usa retailer )

Maybe that's why they discontinued nes mini because they're unable to produce enough units for three different products with so high demand.

I work manufacturing not retail. I was saying I noticed stock issues the last time I was in retail stores. As for NES Classic Edition they used it for some boosted sales during holiday season but now Switch is out they would rather have people pay $5 per NES game on VC than sell 30 for 60 through the NES Classic Edition.
