I need this ASAP! I'll back the hell out of this.

Weight: 390g .... plus the 398g of the Switch + Joy-Cons itself = 788g

No way that such a clunky brick is comfortable in handheld-mode, a (much cheaper) wired external power bank in your pocket or on the table will be much more comfortable.

Also you can forget the estimated release date of that accessory... which kickstarter or indiegogo estimate hasn't been delayed for at least 6 months or even several years?

Just imagine if Nintendo actually put a decent battery into the system... This wouldn't be needed. Should have been at least 8,000 mAh.

Not sure how the battery they put is not decent I mean, its literally half the system

Not sure where you'd expect them to fit the 8,000 mAh. I'm sure there new battery tech out there that is more efficent than the one in the switch, but its probably not affordable yet.

Blurry picture there but I see a lot of black around that battery.  I suppose there are components from the board that are right underneath that black space?  Like some big ass capacitors or something.

That's part of the battery too

Ah with that pic it just looks like a holder or barrier.  The battery just looks like the square in the middle surrounded by a holder with that picture.  I see it plugs in at the top but I suppose I'd need a more clean pic to see it more clearly.

The picture I posted is already clear enough

I really don't see why. As others have said, the battery is glued in and any effort to replace it would void the warranty. But regardless, here:

That ENTIRE black square is the battery. And it takes up roughly 40% of the system's space. The only way to include a larger battery would be to either make the system significantly fatter, wider, or remove the fan and a good chunk of the circuit board it needs to function.

In terms of battery life, this is the best we could hope to expect. Battery technology hit a brick wall awhile ago and hasn't advanced in years, and the only reason why mobile technology has been able to improve as much as it has is thanks to more power efficient processors. Nintendo isn't trying to screw people over with an after market battery here: this is literally the best current technology can do with something in this form factor.

Too lazy to embed, but this is a video with the time starting when the battery is being removed.
