Forums - Sales Discussion - Media Create/Famitsu/Dengeki - March 20th - 26th 2017

So, I've been crunching some hypothetical numbers:

With the total amount of Switch sales we've gotten from Media Create:

Japan sales so far are - 519,504 units

Now, let's take a look at the U.S.

Breath of the Wild sold around 437,000 units on launch, if we include Canada and Mexico: North American Launch numbers would be around 500,000 units for Breath of the Wild.

The attach rate I've been hearing so far fro Zelda and Switch is 85%. If this is true, that would put the Switch's NA Launch at: 588,235 units

You guys following me so far:

Japan (from launch to now) 519,504 units.

NA (just launch: and entirely hypothetical) 588,235 units.

Now, I'm going to make another hypothetical assumption: The one that the sales for the Switch in North America from March 4th to now are exactly the same amount as the Media Create figures we've gotten from Japan:

(61,998, 49,913, 78,441 units respectively)

Adding those to my hypothetical NA Switch launch gives us: 778,587 units.

So, overall, this is what I assume:

North America - 778,587

Japan - 519,504

I'll assume that Europe is the least selling of the 3 major regions at 450,000 units.

778,587 + 519,504 + 450,000 = 1,748,091 Nintendo Switch units sold worldwide (Again, entirely hypothetical)

We'll say that the rest of the world adds another 100k, which puts as at 1,848,091 units sold.
That number, (if hypothetically true) would be as of March 26th, with 5 days to go.

Overall, I think that it's safe to say that 2 million shipment was an accurate number.

Horizon is doing amazing in Japan just like the PS4!!!

PS Vita is not doing strong recently, but hey at least the king of legs aka Minecraft showed up again!

Switch is doing well. Are the openworld Mario games popular in Japan ? I wonder how much it will sell on the holidays.

You European numbers are way underated. On the first 2 days Switch sold 80k in the UK, 110k on France and 50k on Spain, and we dont have numbers for the other 50ish european countries... but 240k in 2 days on 3 countries only, show a number much higher than the US sales. So the 2 million figure seems right for the first week, not the entire month. Maybe around 2.5 or 2.7 M

PS4: Tryklon  Steam: Tryklon

Switch: 0307-6588-7010 | New 2DS XL: 2037-2612-6964

MacBook Air (Mid 2017) | iPhone SE | Apple Watch Series 3

Looks like Japan got about 600,000 units for March which is right around what I would've guessed. Europe maybe about the same or a tad less, the "Americas" likely got more than the other two markets, that gets you basically a 2 million shipment, they'll likely ship a tad more to be able to say they exceeded expectations, but it's more or less looking like about 2 mill.

Hopefully stock shipments can now be regular for April (new fiscal year) and not the BS of starving supply channels for the first few weeks and only really restocking at the very end of the month for Mario Kart.

Actually Switch had best launch start in Europe (and US) compared to any previous Nintendo console, that wasn't case with Japanese market, so in Europe Switch could easily sold more than in Japan, and we know that just first 2 days of launch in France, UK and Spain Switch sold around 230k. WSJ said that will Nintendo ship around 2.5m in March.

I would say more like Sandbox.

Super Mario 64 1,9 million
Super Mario 64 DS 1,2 million
Super Mario Sunshine 870k

There goes the sales of ''sanbox-like'' 3D Mario games.

Switch is switching the tide to Nintendo now! xD idk why i was expecting another 40k!

3DS sales are good too! And SMM for the 3DS reached 1mil!

So it looks like the Wii U's best year in Japan, according to VGChartz, put it at 946,047.

The Switch, now at 519,504, according to Media Create, has already done over half that in less than two months, with no major holidays and supply constraints. I think that bodes well for the console, considering it's only had one major release so far.

Oh fuck! That is one awesome achievement! And the holidays is still far away + Spla2222222oooooooonnnn! Oh my!

Well at least Japan is accepting switch though we already knew Japan was going to be a good territory for it. We need to know more about America and europe.

You're not going to find that answer from this thread. Wait for Vgchartz for Europe, and NPD for the US.
