More meaningless anecdotal evidence:

I bought a Switch at launch and I didn't even know that the Wii U existed until probably a few months after it's launch.

The marketing is leaps and bounds above what they did with the Wii U. The message about what this thing is and what it does is crystal clear.

havn't seen an ad yet on tv. just stuf on the net from youtube tech reveiwers which is not nintendo.

and here.

so i think the marketing is on par with the wii U>

i cant watch TV for more than an hour without seeing a Switch ad.

With Wii U, ads literally only regularly played on kids networks like Nick, Disney, Cartoon Network but with Switch i see ads on TBS, Spike, Comedy Central, FX, Freeform, etc.

They ran a commercial during the Super Bowl, which is the most watched event of the year in the United States.

I saw two switch ads for one movie...I also seen it on many websites (even on Russian Times, what an odd place). It also had a superbowl ad, and seems to have much better ads compared to the Wii U.

The Summer will be the real test. If it's selling better than PS4 through that then I'll be impressed.

We are getting smaller and smaller shipments and they are selling out fast.

Also the Guardian amiibo is always gone. Still pletny of BotW games though.

Neon seems to sell out quicker than the grey model, do you get the same amount of neons and greys?

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

Does anyone really expect that?

Unless it is the next PSP/Wii, I do not see it outselling the PS4 right now

I hope this is because of a real demand and not the controlled understocking Nintendo has in place. Better have enough units by the time Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe come out.

1st post, best post?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

It makes a lot of sense for Gamestop to be hyping the Switch, out of all three main alternatives for your living room. It's by far the console with the best prospects of selling physical copies of software, which GS are in dire need of managing to keep on selling, both new and used, I bet you anything that they're not instructing their staff to advice Switch buyers to get more internal storage along with their purchase...
