Forums - General Discussion - Star at the Bar #4: Anything Interesting Happen Today For You?

This is a bit complicated but found out today that the decision for my request to have my visa extended here in Canada (which I had to request when my company's next project got put on temporary hiatus, delaying the renewal of my contract and work permit) has been made, and I should hear soon. Basically in the midst of a storm of ordeals right now haha.

Otherwise accompanied my GF for some shopping, ate a burger, did some freelance work, will probably play a bit of Nioh later, stuck on the Giant Toad boss >:(

I wanna play NiOh! Is the Asian aesthetic well done? Im a big fan of Japanese architecture, main reason I want the game XD

Nioh is stunning. I lived in Japan for a while and studied quite a bit of Japanese folklore and history, and it fuses them together in really interesting ways. It's quite fun to recognize creatures and historical figures around every corner and see how Team Ninja reimagined them visually. I will say the environments aren't quite as grand and beautiful as they could be, it's all very dark and diffiult to see, but the architecture is very period-acurrate. some levels definitely remind me of shrines I found in the middle of forests and such.

If you're interested in the period and the historical figures involved, I recommend watching the mini-series Shogun, which is a semi-fictionalized retelling of the period involing the same British guy that nioh's protagonist is based on. Helps contextualise what's happening.

Nice shirt!

As for the rest of that day, sounds busy! Red Vines are aight. I agree with the smell over taste though

inorite!

I've tried both red vines and twizzlers in the past, and honestly... I think red vines are SO MUCH better than twizzlers... they taste unique and have a different texture, whereas twizzlers have that generic artificial flavouring and feel to them... although twizzlers DO come in more flavours, which is cool. Although y'know what I really do love is cherry or blue raspberry laffy taffy... I bought a box of each flavour from Amazon last year and oh man I ate them so quick, they're so good!

It was a really fun day actually, I needed it too!

Lemme tell you, idk which it is, but one of the two has a peelable vetsion. It's so good

Not really. Stayed home all day to study for a test tomorrow.

Shame its so dark. But I'll give it a try.

I've studied a bit of Japanese History in college. So I'll give Shogun a shot when I get the time!

I haven't played all of it, so there might be brighter levels later. I will say if you're interested in architecture specifically, there is one cool level in a Ninja village. You have to search for trap doors and at one point you start to realize that the building you're in was built upside-down to trick invaders or something. There's definitely some neat level-building in it.

Not too far from the truth XD my client is a special needs individual who needs constant supervision. I have him on night shifts. He always wants to be driven to the bar to... sit. And sometimes smoke. He doesn't drink. Nor do other things people at bars do. Just sits there for 4-5hrs and then we leave when it closes
