Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan Sales- Switch Year 1 vs 3DS and Wii U

Yay new updates!!!

Now all we need is Shadow to update his chart, too

A few more high weeks for Switch and it should be at 2 million sold in Japan.

If I remember correctly, 3DS had somewhat of a slow start because of the high price in the first few months. It will be nice to see how the switch compares to the 3ds after the first price cut. I think the switch has was it takes to sell around the same number of consoles as the 3ds by the end of its life, maybe a tad less.

we're in the Post price cut era, the 190k week was the week of the price cut where it retook the lead from the switch.

Maybe a tad more, I say. 3DS had a 10,000 Yen price cut from 25 000Y to 15 000Y, which is huge and didn't leave much room for other effective pricecuts. Switch however is currently 29,980 Yen and is selling at the same rate as a 3DS AFTER pricecut. And we haven't seen the likes of Pokemon, Monster Hunter and Dragon Quest yet. Believe me, if they keep supporting it decently, Switch will likely end up above 3DS. That's my 2 cents.

Just aiming for the 3ds tho? How about we aim for the DS :)

Nice update! Switch will certainly go head to head with the 3DS, heading into the holydays, assuming the stock is there, wich is very impressive considering it's price point.

I wonder how big the SMO shipments will be. Pre-orders on Comg and amazon.jp look promising so far.

33 millions and counting? Would be remarkable. A man can hope.

I dunno, 33M seems a bit out of reach for Japan nowadays, even with the success of the Switch in Japan so far

Tag. Great numbers so far.
