Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda BotW: Can It Actually Score a 98/99 on Metacritic? GOAT? (Based on previews)

Because, you know, if you're trying to say it IS the best game of all time, you'd be wrong.

...yet that's what a lot of reviewers are saying. What's your point?

Yet according to metacritic, it scored the same as THPS2, GTAIV (ps3 *and* 360), Soul Calibur (DC), and scored one point less than Ocarina of time (n64).

So clearly, I was not wrong.

Ha, even if it truly was the best game of all time (it isn't), do you honestly expect games media in 2017 not to take a bite of that delicious clickbait score and thus, wave after wave of fanboys from all necks of the gaming woods to laugh, cry, shout and scream?

The only game that would ever score well in this day and age is one that caters exclusively to the media and goes out of it's way to massage their egos and reassure them that they hold all the power, not those pesky youtube influencers, or those peasant gamers.

Super Mario 3D World basically had no media attention or influence and scored a 91. What's your point?

I had no idea opinions could be wrong.

So in your opinion, Zelda BotW is the best game of all time, ok.

KLAMarine said:

You made this determination without playing the game?

Boring.

I don't have an opinion on BotW. It looks good and reminds me of Wind Waker but I haven't played it yet.

Delicious salty tears from the PS4 and X1 fanboys, keep em coming!

So that automatically means that Breath of the Wild is as good as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, GTA IV and Soul Calibur, as well as being a little bit worse than Ocarina of Time, which is the greatest game of all time. Those are obviously just facts that can't be contested by anyone, since Metacritic is the only thing in all of gaming that is completely objective and true, always.

...

Do you realize that you are arguing that an average of multiple peoples opinions is less accurate of an indicator than a single persons opinion?

If you think a certain game is the best game ever, then that's fine - for you it totally is, no issues there.

If i think it isn't (and state so as I did), then that opinion is just as valid as your own, do you not get that?
You cannot argue that my opinion is wrong because your opinion is different, that isn't how opinions work.

And people thought this a crazy prediction, I also thought this is highly unlikely, good job.

The problem is that you're outright putting your opinion out as a fact. You are saying the game is not the greatest game ever, when in reality a lot of people think it is, and for good reason.

Not even going to read the rest of your post, its boring.

I stated "even if it was the best game ever (it isnt)", that is both my opinion, and now supported by the current score.

people thinking its the best game ever does not effect my opinion, and clearly, wasn't enough to score it overall to reflect that either.

There is no debate to be had, i expressed an opinion, and followed it up with my guess that it may end up scoring lower than it should because as of late a lot of reviewers have opted to underscore a title massively for clickbait - this isn't ragging on zelda, this is making a guess that it MAY have scored LOWER THAN IT SHOULD, as a result of bullshit tactics by media.

Then there's the fact that nobody in the world can *safely* label a game the greatest of all time, only the "greatest they have ever played", because it would be physically impossible for someone to have played every game ever made.

what are you even trying to accomplish here? seriously? because the part you seem to have the biggest issue with is me having an opinion.

I was expecting it to get the 95+ but nothing like this

The biggest issue I'm having in this argument is you.

why exactly? because i hold a different opinion to you?
