Forums - Politics Discussion - Voting age should be raised and tied to income and intelligence

This plan is

good 21 11.48%

not good 152 83.06%

maybe, at least we should... 10 5.46%

Total:183

Just an awful idea ...

Under conditions 1 & 2, Donald Trump and similar candidates or initiatives would've been more likely to win the election which might not be so bad afterall, hmm ...

#3 is straight up horrible ...

It would give African Americans and Hispanics disproportionately less say since their known to have a statistically lower IQ ...

Banned, obviously. ~StarOcean

I would be unable to vote base don income. Funny thing is OP actually thinks IQ tests mean anything. Got news for ya bud. They are bullshit. IQ doesn't exist. I been saying it for 25 years. Einstein didn't believe in them either. I have been tested as low as 84 and as high as 150. The reality is there is no real way to measure intelligence, too many variables. http://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/now-scientists-want-to-tell-you-that-iq-doesnt-exist/

Here's the thing.
Democracy is tied to the people who live in the country.
The people who get elected do so because the people living here choose decide it.
It is not the fault of the people voting that idiots get into office, but the fault of the people that they vote HERE specifically.
Democracy is not a tame-able animal, much like the free market. It exists and serves the ideas behind the process.
Of course, there are downsides to this system. Specifically speaking, the major downside is that both systems only serve the populace that is involved.
A free market can, and will completely devour anything in its path, regardless of national affiliation or morals. It is the same in democracy, where the only important observance is to its own nature.

ie;
Democracy is not a system through which a country becomes great.
It is a system that allows a great people to do great things, and wicked people to do wicked things.
It is the fault of the nation that it makes poor decisions. There are many countries with democracy that make far better decisions.

Your problem is that you affiliate yourself with a nation that doesn't identify with you, instead of joining a nation that better resembles your own ideals.

You're in love with a fuckboi.

Wouldn't work for the US because there are plenty of dumb people that have a relatively high IQ.

Dumbest idea on democratic reforms ever.

But a democracy only works with nations with an average IQ around 100. Much lower and corruption and tribalism completely take over.

Define "works"

Thw country stays rich and the quality of life for people is in general pretty high. Especially compared to dictatorships or banana republics.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

You've made some bad threads lately.

I thought this was a Geralt/Trump thread 0_0

Anyway, terrible idea. It strikes at the heart of democratic voting. How about we just funnel more money into education? Let's use the vast resources of this country to inform citizens about the world, and they'll end up making more informed decisions. It would solve a lot of problems.

Then it really wouldn't be a democracy at that point, not a proper one anyway.
