My understanding is the actual drug king pins in the Phillipines are actually all Chinese triads and Duerte is a puppy dog when dealing with the Chinese. I don't really see what he's going to accomplish if he really can't even get to the root of the problem.

We got Mexican cartels and even Korean mobs too. All tied to narco politicians.

Did you guys know that during the previous administration our national jail became the hotbed of drug trade? And the former DOJ secretary who let that all happen under her watch became a Senator.

So I'm not even sure there is a solution to the problem anymore. The drug syndicates are in too deep in Government.

Edit to your edit:

And yes poverty is probably our greatest problem. :(

So why not focus on poverty? I mean first of all I imagine a lot of people get high because being poor is fucking depressing.

Seems to me like improving that situation should be priority 1, 2, and 3, and would probably reduce the number of drug users in the process ... rather than y'know just killing people for using drugs (or at least threatening to do so).

Second to that I looked at the drug numbers for your country and it's something like 1.8%-3% (low to high estimates) is the range for drug users ... I mean 1-3% of your country is worth going into martial law over? I dunno, that seems fairly crazy to me, in America, I'd say probably 3% of the population is addicted to some kind of drug easy.

The guy doesn't even know that farmers who have been denied lands by oligarchs are getting their land rights now.

Lumads who have been harassed and evicted from their lands are now getting it back.

We actually now have 911 emergency call and Freedom of Information act under our Hitler.

Critics and opposition are free to speech without being jailed. Free to demonstrate.

I could go on and on but he is hitler because of a comment.

A comment he himself proudly made in case you forgot.

Let me guess, to you this TOTALLY JUSTIFIES your president being a psychopathic vigilante?

How long before his strategy ends up killing thousands of innocent people? I'm gonna say probably another few days.

Please provide proof that he is actually killing thousands and please do.

No money and working on that. Had to blow job China hard first.

I dunno if he's actually doing that, but I can say for certain he's giving your country a bad reputation worldwide.

I used to think the Philiphines was a cool place, yes with some poverty issues, but a cool place.

Now when I mention the Philiphines or think about it, people think it's like a zombie-land where like 70% of the country are drug addicts, and it's largely due to the outrageous statements of your president. It's how people think now, I asked my girlfriend where she wanted to vacation, and she mentioned Thailand might be cool, and I said Philliphines is similar, but she recoiled and said "that's that drugged out place", but the reality is there's probably as many addicts in Thailand.

I can't speak to his full policies, but I don't think this president is really doing much for the name of the Philliphines worldwide.

It's fine to be tough on drugs, but some of the statements are just ... ridiculous I think.

Because the bad side was kept under raps to make a good image while we were actually rotting in hell. Corruption was so bad bro. This is our reality.

It's better for the world to know the shit we are on, so they can understand why the old guy with the stupid mouth won.

I said "How long before his strangy ends up killing thousands of innocent people?". Keyword BEFORE. I didn't say it's happened yet.

Sadly, my friend. That already happened today and in the past. That's all I'm telling you guys. Sorry if I said bad shit bro.

mainstream media and politicians here have been making me puke for all the nonsense they are throwing at us lately.

Guys sorry you know our situation in the Philippines is just shit for a long time and we really want you guys to understand why we support the old man.

Because for so long we either have incompetent or corrupt leadership that really did no good for the ordinary people.

The war on drugs had to happen because the addicts and pushers where openly on the streets especially on the poorer neighborhoods. I don't like killings that's why I'm angry at injustices that's been happening for decades but I find it not fair to blame this all on one guy because the problem is bigger than that.

The money that should have gone to the people were stolen legally through pork barrel. Now we had to blow job China to get cash and for them to allow us to fish in our traditional fishing grounds thanks to those man made islands ugh...

I cannot even begin to explain to you guys how bad it is that trying to fix things looks so impossible.

But the old man is actually doing something for the people and we see it. Do we wish he would stop making comments where he gets misinterpreted because he lashes out in anger. Fuck! Yeah, can't defend that. I won't even try and I certainly do not envy his PR guy.

and we also know most of your news that you get from us are one sided too because the opposition now who had been in power for decades has huge connections abroad and that adds to the frustration for us ordinary guys.

So again I apologize for being so heated. I did not help my cause for doing that. Besides Duterte himself is a politician, so we all have the right to bash him, call him names and make fun of him and I forgot that.

my bad VGChartz brothers and sisters

There are far more hideous things not reported here.

Bad reputation is just the least of my concern now. I actually enjoy seeing the shitstorm going on than pretending the whole pillar of our government isn't being eaten away by termites.

And yes drug addicts are indeed a lot here. Simple measures like Rugby boys are all over manila. Lots of Cocaine addicted bus/jeepney drivers/operators just so they can "stay awake" longer. Hell I know someone personally who was bus driver who said that a franchise owner was discretely looking for Bus Drivers who can end someone in the case of an accident. Simply because hospital bills are a pain and once you kill the victim, you end with a settlement.

Someone already asked. Why not tackle poverty? Good question. A lot of people just don't want to. As long as I can feed my family's mouth and I live good and my kids can finish college who the fuck cares about them. That's how most of our corrupt government officials think.

Big wig politicians don't want to control birth rate of poverty stricken areas. Simply  because their predicament is where they can serenade them. Basically they're livestock for their voting farms. You need more idiots to grow to put off the sensible ones.

It's Money first before some service. If there's a solution they always just put a temporary one then forget it.

Good thing about now is that they are actually rethinking our tax policies and adjusting brackets for those who get taxed way too much for an outdated value that barely gets anything. That might actually sway away some from entering red taping practices.

Won't be long until you have liberals over there complaining about all the "non-violent" drug offenders in jail. They get released and crime once again goes up.

That's what happened here in America. We had our war on drugs, started by Bill Clinton, and it reduced crime huge from the 90's. Yet now we are thinking that all those people in prison for drug related offenses should be released and also lax on our drug enforcement and crime is once again going up.

War on Drugs started by bill Clinton? That was Regean
