Not too surprising, Lightning is the most recent heroine and Square Enix have given her a lot of exposure. This has a lot to do with the age of those asked and how likely they are to even know about Rinoa or Maria. After following the sources and google translating the original article I think the twitter comments give pretty good reasoning, for example one guy wants to be stepped on by Lightning and another chooses Tifa because "I am tits".

All respectable waifu choices in my opinion, at the very least no lolis.

This poll is so stupid because the sample group is not random. XIII is the the freshest in the mind of that age group. Those college students are probably a bunch of lonely 18-26 year olds and the last FF they ever played was XIII. The fact that Vanille, Serah also made the list is proof of that.

If the sample included different age groups. Graduates, dropouts, older men sitting at their desks in their boring jobs you would get results that reflect their generation of FF that is dearest to them.

That said... I'd do Yuna...

Yuna would by far make the best wife.

Lightning has an absolutely awful personality, one of the most dislikeable protaganists in the series.

Payne has some nice touches akin to Lulu, but no one votes her either. :C

I like how practically none in the comments says Lightning while she is in second place in the VGchartz poll.

I always like setting up polls but never use them as any reliable measure, as far as VGC users go, because you can actually vote in any poll without even being logged in (I think), which ends up messing the tallying.

The only reliable votes I measure are the ones that are also posted on the thread. That being said, most guests and users that do not want to say it love Lightning, but there's nothing bad with it. She's sexy (Fang too, even more I'd say!):
