Hellblade.

/thread

/thread? Nah. As good as Hellblade looks, it doesn't have the visual clarity and density of Horizon and Uncharted: Lost Legacy nor the sheer graphical might of Battlefront II and Resident Evil 7.

Best character model in any game for sure, though.

I dunno I've gotten ahold of last guardian this year and the trico model is the best ever in any game regardless of format IMO

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Battlefront 2, that good looking and still getting close to a constant 60fps is just a joy to look at on consoles. On PC it's even greater especially with the better shadows, more foliage and so on.

Too bad there is no option on XBO X to play it with 1080p and closer to the ultra settings on PC, though.

Are there really doubters about the new Metro's authenticity? :O

With high fidelity graphics, there will always be doubters. The reason why Metro's are particular is because they forget the spectacle Last Light was. I made a pretty big deal about it in 2013, even when people flat out denied what I was showing them was running in real time.

This time, there shouldn't be any doubt.

That was the start of the next-gen, so games on consoles hadn't really caught up, so it really did look like a spectacle.
I mean... Metro 2033 was also a graphics powerhouse for it's time in 2010... But many console gamers still thought Uncharted was the best looking game ever. (They know nothings.)

This time around, console games have taken a big step forward in the last year or so, so the new Metro is a realistic expectation all things considered.
So keen for it.

The model does look good. But it really does look like an enhanced Playstation 3 game.

There's no option on console like that because the system needs more juice

Should be plenty of room to increase the settings they use on XBO X if it would run in 1080p without supersampling instead of whatever the average resolution is.

No idea how high the settings could go, but I wrote closer to ultra settings and not ultra settings.

I know what you said, but it's not just a matter of room, but specific operations that a console just can't do. For example, there are Ultra Settings for Shadow Quality, that would be the absolute maximum on consoles, then we have two more options on PC beyond that.

Ultimately, getting things "closer" to Ultra on PC would mean dialing back on something else (usually performance and textures). This is always the case with consoles and the Xbox One X isn't going to change that process. I think it's good enough that they got the game to look, and play, as good as it does on those machines as is.

Maybe we have a different opinion of what my closer means. I'm pretty sure that what I'm asking for would be possible and one thing is for sure, reducing the resolution would make it possible to increase some other settings. How much better it would be is another question.

Need to keep in mind the Xbox One X is only running with a mid-range Radeon RX 580/Geforce 1060-class GPU (But slightly better) in conjunction with 12GB of Ram and a 4 year old, low-end netbook processor.
Need to keep expectations in check.

It brings the Xbox closer to a high-end PC, without actually reaching it, if you want the full graphics experience... PC is still the only place to be.

Well, that is for sure. I was also always a PC gamer and since some years PC only gamer. It's not as if I'm like "XBO X is as good as a powerful gaming PC" or anything like that. I will probably never even own an XBO X.

I have owned an Xbox One X for something like 3 Weeks now? Only been used for about half an hour in total.
You aren't missing out on much right now. - Most of the Xbox One X enhanced games are still coming.

Xbox One X enhanced titles like Halo 5 still look like an Xbox game, on PC it would have been able to take a big step forward visually.

Figured I'd throw Adam in the 2017 Thread since it's a 2017 Tech Demo (though this is just for testing purposes and can also be found elsewhere on the site). Do you guys feel we've reached this point yet? The demo is designed for what's coming, rather than what's available. So, it's tricky. But, what do you think...

We are getting pretty damn close on the PC.
But still a couple steps back.

I think next Gen that will end up being a rough baseline of what to expect.

Out of curiosity, Have you given Unigen Superposition a go yet?

New bench? Hadn't seen it! Thanks for the head's up!

Came out earlier this year.
nVidia's Titan XP and 1080Ti is dominating the charts though. (Expected.)

My RX 580 8GB struggles to even hit 20fps even at 1080P , 11fps at 1440P extreme presets, has some pretty good lighting and physics effects too.
Overall I am sitting at around an equivalent rank of 813 which ain't bad for a 6 year old rig IMHO.

1080p Extreme (OpenGL) = 5055
1080p Extreme (DirectX)  = 5931

Roughly double my performance. Not bad. And not entirely unexpected either. :P
