Didn't want to make a thread but couldn't find anything on googole after a few mins.

have Nintendo specified if the screen is OLED or not?

Around the Network

I watched Austin Evans and other tech dudes. All of them said it's a 6.2 inch LCD screen with 720p resolution

No it doesn't

From Wikipedia:

The main unit of the Switch is the Console, a battery-powered tablet-like monitor that comprises an LCD screen measuring 6.2 inches (16 cm) on its diagonal.[50] The unit itself measures 9.41 by 4.02 by 0.55 inches (23.9 cm × 10.2 cm × 1.4 cm) and weighs 10.48 ounces (297 g).[51] The screen supports ten-point multi-touch capacitive sensing and includes haptic technology from Immersion Corporation.[52] The LCD screen supports resolutions up to 720p (1280x720 px).[53][43] The Console includes a 3.5 mm audio jack, stereo speakers on the bottom of the unit, a USB-C port for charging while out of the Dock, and a kickstand on the back side.[54][55] The unit also includes slots for a Game Card (cartridge-based media) and a microSDXC external storage card to be installed or removed. The Console has rails on the side, into which the Joy-Con controllers can be slid when removed from the base.[56] An ambient light sensor on the front of the Console can be used to control the screen's brightness.

Like everyone else said, LCD screen

it's an ips screen

As great as an OLED screen is, I'm not sure the extra cost is really worth it on a screen that size. We're definitely right on the cusp of OLED becoming more common (if not the standard), though, so something like what the Vita originally had (before dropping it for price cuts) might have worked.

I seriously considered getting an OLED big screen recently, but just couldn't justify the additional cost. It looks great and is so light but tends to burn out after a few years.

LCD. But don't worry... it'll look more like my Iphone's LCD than my Gameboys.

6.2", 1280x720, IPS (In-Pane-Switching.)

What *kind* of IPS panel it is remains to be seen, But the current reports it is semi-decent quality, so likely 8-bit rather than the cheaper 6-bit or more expensive 10-bit panels.

Not the best display technology they could have used, but still allot better than it could have potentially been. Glad it isn't something like AMOLED with a Pentile subpixel layout... At 720P on a 6.2" display the screendoor effect would have been terrible.

Crazy to think the vita had an oled but the Switch only has LCD.

I can understand though why Nintendo would want to keep costs low though. And I hear there's a shortage in developing OLED screens WW.

Regarding TV'S Sony and LG I think are releasing 4k OLED models this year at a reasonable price (under $2000).

So I'm hoping I'll get a nice OLED 4k screen in 2/3 years for under $1000.
