It's a fail for sure. They was able to sell just 750k~ when the estimates was like 2 million. I call a big flop. (and no one is talking about)

PSVR sold out for 4 months in a row now. Good luck finding one for retail price :D Sure a "failure".

I hope so, the quicker Sony stops wasting time with VR the better.

Not sure if you are serious. If so, I hope you have room to give it a chance at some point. VR is absolutly the future of games. Sony has to be at the front if they want to stay on top of the indursty. I am very happy that they are pushing forward, and being proactive with this tech, because too many times Sony has been slow, and it has massivly hurt other industries.

I really can't think of a AAA sytle game that won't benefit from VR. Some games really benefit from it, First Person Experiences, 3rd person Experience, and Racers. The Last Of US Part II would be a perfect game to support VR, because it fully engaes you in the world. There is no better way to play a 3rd person game, because no matter how big your screen is, you will never have a proper feild of view.

We already know Polyphony is working on it for Gran Turismo, but honestly Sony needs to get the rest of their big studios doing projects. Sucker Punch, Naughty Dog, Gurrillia, Sony San Deigo, they all need to be making AAA games for VR, to make sure Sony is ready for the swing from flat screen games to VR.

I think VR definitely has a place in the videogame industry, preferably at arcades & theme parks. Personally I don't want to sit at home wearing one of those cumbersome contraptions. Also, I typically play games with others, story & multiplayer, so the shared big screen experience is a must.

Nowadays on the rare occasions I do play games alone I'd prefer to feel comfortable than more immersed, nothing wrong with people embracing VR but it's just not for me.

Fair enough.

I really would prefer that VR at home becomes big, more so than in arcades and theme parks though. I would love to see a future where you can buy a VR system for $5,000 that has cutting edge tech, the most percise motion tracking, and industry leading screen tech. I would totally be in the market for that kind of stuf.

Back at the O.P.

I find it funny that people are asking whether Sony is serious or not about VR, when they renamed the PlayStation division Sony Interactive Entertainment. If that doesn't point to a future of VR and Advanced Motion Controls/Motion Tracking then I don't know what does.

As others have said. PSVR is definitly a building block. An early entry into a market that is going to explode in the future. Sony being involved now is a great thing. They messed up in portable devices by not going to digital music fast enough, They messed up in TV's by not supporting LCD fast enough, and they messed up in Mobile by not turning the PSP/PS Vita into a mobile platform. This time they are at the forefront of the new emerging tech, and are in a position to have Samsung/Apple like success in the VR space. That is good for Sony, that is good for consoles, and more and most importantly, that is good for the future of gamers.

I'm sorry but vr is borderline offensive

most people who have ever used it have reported mild headaches and eye sore. I'm not a masochist so i'll stick to playing with a controller.

i love when people admit they have never tried vr, it confirms that you have literally no idea what you're talking about

why would i even bother owning a vr if the people i know are in pain because of such a blasted thing? you are right, i have never owned a vr, but everyone who has, including the likes of boogie2988 stress all the time to take breaks every 15 minutes otherwise you'd get migraines and possible short of breath.

yeah, no thanks

15 minutes? I know everyone is different, and VR does take some getting used to, but I've dropped people brand new to VR into 60-90 minute experiences without issue. My sister gets sick in the back seat of cars and has spent 45 minutes in VR no problem.

Having had PSVR since launch, I can spend as much time in VR as I want and not feel any discomfort.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

lol this post is dumb as fuck, i own a psvr and have played many different games on it and experience no pain, headaches, nausea or anything of the sorts so from my perspective your post is total horseshit. by the way, why don't you try it out, you'll be blown away

look, its good you enjoy vr but calling my post dumb is pretty much confirming your disregard for human health.

its amazing how you and a few people can play vr for as long as you want without any pain (and i salute you), but don't be ignorant to the fact that you are in the minority.

the truth is, vr has caused more pain than enjoyment for the majority.

PSVR has had a lot of press lately and it hasn't been looking good. Sony are even pulling a Microsoft and refusing to release sales numbers. Sony has time to turn it around but I'm afraid that PSVR is gonna end up like the Vita sure they support it at first but when reality hits and it's unsuccessful they very quickly pull out and abandoned it with only a few small developers supporting it (those of which wouldn't even have enough money to develop for VR). So what do you think? Can Sony turn it around? Will they keep supporting the platform if its unsuccessful?

Note sure if others spotted this pun - but I for one applaud you sir.
