I think VR definitely has a place in the videogame industry, preferably at arcades & theme parks. Personally I don't want to sit at home wearing one of those cumbersome contraptions. Also, I typically play games with others, story & multiplayer, so the shared big screen experience is a must. Nowadays on the rare occasions I do play games alone I'd prefer to feel comfortable than more immersed, nothing wrong with people embracing VR but it's just not for me. |
Fair enough.
I really would prefer that VR at home becomes big, more so than in arcades and theme parks though. I would love to see a future where you can buy a VR system for $5,000 that has cutting edge tech, the most percise motion tracking, and industry leading screen tech. I would totally be in the market for that kind of stuf.
Back at the O.P.
I find it funny that people are asking whether Sony is serious or not about VR, when they renamed the PlayStation division Sony Interactive Entertainment. If that doesn't point to a future of VR and Advanced Motion Controls/Motion Tracking then I don't know what does.
As others have said. PSVR is definitly a building block. An early entry into a market that is going to explode in the future. Sony being involved now is a great thing. They messed up in portable devices by not going to digital music fast enough, They messed up in TV's by not supporting LCD fast enough, and they messed up in Mobile by not turning the PSP/PS Vita into a mobile platform. This time they are at the forefront of the new emerging tech, and are in a position to have Samsung/Apple like success in the VR space. That is good for Sony, that is good for consoles, and more and most importantly, that is good for the future of gamers.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
