Ugh. I hate that the "hot take" culture of ESPN and Fox Sports has invaded video games.
If you were expecting Switch to get the annual Call of Duty game and the annual Assassins's Creed game, then I'm not sure where you've been the last 15 years.
If you were expecting a components that fit into a 6 inch tablet form factor and also have to share space with battery and display components to put out comparable performance to an Xbox or a PlayStation, then I don't know what to tell you.
The Switch's launch line-up is fine. All launches are bad. Colin touts the new Call of Duty, new Assassins' Creed, and new Battlefield at launch for the other consoles. But were those games any good? I heard AC 4 was good, but it's one of NINE mainline Assassin's Creed games (and 11 more side games) to come out in under a decade.
In hindsight, they're all games that were fun at the time because there was nothing else to play, but can be had for a few dollars today. I'm willing to bet that people will still be talking about Breath of the Wild decades from now. Just like Wii Sports and Twilight Princess. Just like Mario 64. Just like Super Mario World.
Beyond launch, we've got a beefed up Mario Kart 8, a new Splatoon, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Mario Odyssey all coming in 2017, with a bunch of smaller titles filling the gaps I'm sure.
