Forums - Nintendo Discussion - If history repeats, Switch will get price cut and/or bundles this holiday.

Switch will get...

Price Cut 8 11.94%

Bundle 20 29.85%

Both 34 50.75%

Nothing 5 7.46%

Total:67

The Switch may not be the greatest value right now, but that should change during the holidays if Nintendo follows a similar plan from their last two systems. 3DS and Wii U saw both a price cut and bundles during their first post launch holiday, with 3DS getting an $80 cut and a 3D Land bundle, while the Wii U got a $50 cut and NSMBU and Windwaker bundles. However this time Nintendo is really trying to not take losses on hardware, so I wouldn't expect both bundle and price cut to happen with Switch, just one. I'm thinking it'll be a bundle, specifically Zelda BotW as that game should have made it's money by then, but I could also see Mario Odyssey as they always like bundling Mario, or Splatoon 2 for similar reasons as Zelda.

So what do yal think? Will it get a price cut, a bundle (if so what game), or both... or nothing. Dx

At best, it will be a console for 250 or game bundle for 300.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

The bundle probably will be of Zelda, a wanted title but one that already had 8 months of being on the market, with maybe a price cut.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I hope it gets both soon. A 250€ bundle with Mario Kart 8.5 seems like a great deal.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well I think that's a no brainer and something that will definitely happen. Nintendo did a really great Black Friday deal last year with the $99 New 3DS so I think its a given. This holiday is when they really want to push the system.

They need that.

It all depends on their sales. If they continue to sell through shipments at a better than Wii rate, then they will probably hold off any price cuts until the following summer (black friday being an exception) or holiday seasons, in order to maximize profits. Remember, Nintendo is an expert and making profits with some rumors/reports that have been introduced even during the Wii U years.

But seeing as this thing is already selling out at Gamestop and Amazon, knowing that Gamestop had 500,000 units of Wii U's on launch day apparently and the Switch, I suspect, will have more for them, then I doubt there will be a bundle unless interest drops quickly.

Then again, the money they get from the paid online may allow them to be ok with taking a hit on hardware sales profit to the point where they will cut the price.

Its one of the reasons I m not buying it at launch

Yep $250 with MK8 is almost a lock for holiday 2017.
Either that or Nintendo watch another console go to waste.
At that price with a bundled game and the likes of Splatoon, Mario and Zelda all being released it all of a sudden looks like a great purchase for Christmas.

I took the leap forward, because I could see price cut happening, to $250 and that doing nothing to CAD Price. Calling it market forecasting on my end, it worked for me with the PS4, where it was cheaper to buy day 1 than it was day 364.
