I might get a dock much later when price goes down or used, and only pro controller. Joy Con Controller Sets are awfully priced, but I assume you are better off getting pro controller.

Even the Pro price is high. I mean thats the standar this gen, but thats a pricey standar.

Yup. We use to pay $39.99 for extra controllers. Everything about modern gaming is getting too expensive. If they don't stop doing this stuff, there WILL be a point where most of the crowd says fuck it and walks away. I feel like we're getting close.

Do we know from Nintendo what the dock does? If it upscales, charges, has ethernet port then it might be worth getting. It would make it easier to play on your bedroom TV, living room TV, dining room TV etc. The concept is awesome as at the moment I'm having to unplug age carry my PS4 from the bedroom to the living room avid sometimes to the dining room.

However, if this is just a docking unit that has a PU and a chip to say run at full power, then it's a bit overpriced.

No ethernet port. You'll have to buy a separate usb-to-ethernet adapter for that.

And buy a grip charger thing. So all in would set to back $390 on launch if you include a game and charger.

This is sounding more expensive as time passes.

Prices seem a little expensive but i think most people are overreacting. Its not the end of the world people xD

Jesus Fucking Christ. My CAD wallet already went to another owner just looking at those prices

Amen brother! Depending what province you're in (I'm in Ontatrio), after tax for the console without a game is more than $450!

I mean come on! $300 base price, you still have to shell out $70 for a decent controller, online is paid and lacks basic features. Nintendo's last cash grab before exiting the hardware business.

Your attitude makes it sound like you'll never buy anything Nintendo, cheap or not.

Anyway, I don't care about the €50. I agree it's not cheap, but it's also not outlandish. at least nothing compared to the €599 PS3 launch price, which gave you a whopping 1 controller and... No games.

For the record, I bought the Wii at launch and the Wii U about a year after launch.

I'm just a Nintendo fan who wanted decent hardware without gimmicks that drive up the cost. The Switch is not that product. If the reports are true, and I think they are, its far inferior to the PS4 and Xbox One, yet it's going cost more.

Dang, those are some high prices even by Nintendo standards. If I had to price them by considering decent profits, relative affordability, and similar pricing for controllers & accessories I'd price them at...

- Switch Pro Controller ($59.99)
- Switch Joy-Con Set ($49.99)
- Switch Joy-Con Single ($29.99)
- Switch Joy-Con Charging Grip ($19.99)
- Switch Dock Set ($69.99)
- Joy-Con Set of 2 Wheels ($14.99)

and just for the fun of it

- Nintendo Switch Console ($249.99)
- Nintendo Switch Console + ARMS Game ($299.99)

I pretty much agree 100%

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Like I said I think Nintendo is adopting a different pricing strategy, a bit more like Apple to try and get higher profit from their fanbase (at least initially).

I think they know Switch is not going to be a Wii/DS type blockbuster hit straight away, so at least initially, and want to instead target a more premium section of their market. And that means higher prices all around.

I do agree though it's very problematic that you can get a PS4 fairly easily at less than $299.99 these days, and that's with a top tier game like Uncharted 4 bundled. Switch looks very poor by comparison if they're going to push the console angle.

I agree. Which is why I updated the OP with this data, as it is quite the hidden charge and both competitors have the connection built in all SKUs.

That's the reason I haven't bought a second ps4 controller 65 euros is ridiculous. Probably the only console that I have not got a second control for.

The grip charger comes in the package. Its in the 300 dollar base price for the console. Why would you need two grips?
