I would love that: Nintendo games on PC.

How do you know this?

Nintendo games on PC - technically....nah I wont say that. Would be nice even if its the MS Store :P - would double dip!

The Smash modding scene would be lit!

SWORDF1SH knows. He has a feeling about it.

It's called an opinion. Get over it! Why are you getting so offended?

I don't particularly have a dog in this fight, but I do feel the need to draw a distinction here between an opinion and a belief. An opinion is a view on a subject that is entirely subjective and to which no definitive right or wrong answer exists, such as whether hamburgers are better than chicken sandwiches, what the best game of all time is, what the coolest car is, etc. A belief, meanwhile, is a view on a subject that does have a definitive right or wrong answer, even if that answer will never be known by humanity, such as who will win the next presidential election, whether Half Life 3 will ever release, whether aliens exist, etc.

The distinction is important because while you're welcome to hold whatever opinions you want and, ideally, no one should get offended, beliefs are another matter. If you accuse someone of secretly masterminding the Cuban missile crisis (or in this case, accusing them of lying about actually liking a certain game), then it's a direct attack on someone's character, and that can reasonably have offense taken at it.

The nice things Phil says just feel like they have no depth or substance, if u get what I mean. "competition X is awesome, becuz they be awesome", not the why or how or his own experience etc. A cookie cutter praise.

If the compliments were nicer or more elaborate, would they then be more convincing?

Ok, where do I begin?

Spencer announced over a year ago how much he hates 3rd party exclusive deals and how he will do away with them, even going as far as saying it could be his "failing". What he really meant was that "Sony has a huge market share compared to us, we can't afford to make 3rd party deals anymore". Anyway, over the following year he must of convinced MS to fund these deals as we have seen 3rd party deals from Madden, Fifa, Battlefield and full exclusive in the shape of Dead Rising 4. So does he hate 3rd party exclusives, or was he trying to make himself look good by being the guy above all these dirty 3rd party exclusives because he assumed it would be hard to get funding for exclusive content when the competition is stomping all over you.

Wherein the link you provided does it say that Phil Spencer "hates 3rd party exclusive deals and" and that "he will do away with them"?

He also downplayed VR, even saying it's "not a thing". What he meant to say is "we have nothing close to market in the VR space so we must downplay it". What followed was a Hololens demos and partnerships with Oculus and their own cheap alternative for Windows. He wants to downplay VR because of PSVR but then happily announces VR partnerships and show off Hololens.

Phil Spencer had more to say than just VR being "not a thing".

Then we have his bullshit about not being "a fan" of console wars but does everything he can to fuel it. After MS pushed the "no games on PS4" narrative last year, he tried his hardest to push the same narrative this year. He constantly tries to compare the XB1 in a better light than the PS4. For somebody that isn't "a fan" he does like to bring the wood for the console war fire, the gaming sites build the fire while the fanboys light it and bask if the fiery fanboy warmth.
"“When I watch the other platforms, it’s not always clear to me when the games are shipping or how many of them are shipping this year. I mean these are a pretty diverse set of games from a great set of developers. And to say that the other consoles are doing a better job shipping more games for their customer… I don’t see that.”

And this is from the guy who says he doesn't like to talk about the competition.

And this is just picking a few things from some articles and there's plenty more.

What part of the quote above did you find particularly objectionable?

Are you still offen... I mean ammused?

I think I'm entitled to my opinion. If there's people that want to sit on Phil's dick then that's up to them.

Indeed you are entitled.

Ok paragraph 1, you're arguing over semantics. He says he's 'not a huge fan' and something they'll 'do less of'. Have you seen any sign of that? Do you really believe he would of said that if Xbox were in the driving seat? I highly doubt it.

Paragraph 2, your link is great. It shows exactly how he works. He's saying PSVR is great while at the same time playing it down. He does this a lot, he's full of backhanded complements.

Paragraph 3, I'm not sure why you can't see it, is it too subtle? Actually I think it's one of his less subtle jabs. again he's taking a shot at Sony, he refers to them as 'other platforms' but he is taking a shot at them Instead of doing what he claims he likes to do and talk about what they are doing, he's trying to highlight what Sony isn't doing. So he doesn't like consoles but thinks it's ok to downplay the competition while saying how good your games are.

In conclusion, MS and Spencer constantly refer to Sony, either directly or indirectly. Spencer always downplays Sony. He's can be subtle but everything is well thought out. PS4 Pro in the works 'not a fan of 1.5 consoles '. PSVR in the works 'VR isn't ready'.

On the other side you hardly hear Sony mention Xbox or refer to it. I think the 'how to borrow a game' was the only pop at MS. Could be wrong but that's the only one I can remember.

Well this is subjective, it's how you interpret what he says. My opinion is that Spencer talks a lot of shit and has sly digs at Sony. Others think he's more genuine which is fine. But we certainly do 'believe' in our own opinions, otherwise we wouldn't have them.

Like I said, alternative motives. And that's not really saying something nice about Uncharted, the 'i'm sure' part makes itsounds like he's reluctantly agreeing with somebody. And it would be nice to add a little context to that tweet by showing what he replied to.

Believe it or not I liked Spencer when he first became boss at Xbox. But over the years I came to believe he's a bit slimey and two faced.

So you'll just have to accept what I believe and a few others in this thread believe.

No, it makes it sound like he hadn't played the game yet, because it wasn't out.

Spencer is fine.

You could be right. You do talk a lot of sense on VGC. I just don't trust him.

But it's still an issue where there is one definitive correct answer, even if we'll never know it. Either Spencer is talking a lot of shit/taking digs at Sony, or he's sincere. If you claim that Spencer is lying about a particulary subject, and somebody else claims that he's not, one of you is assuredly wrong. That's what separates this as a belief from an opinion.

(Also from a purely grammar nazi standpoint, you "hold" opinions instead of believing in them)
