Does FFXV live up to what a Final Fantasy game should be?

FFXV shows what the new standard for story telling in video games should be.
Now they just need a better plot.

I'll need to finish it first before deciding.

But every FF game I've played felt different so can't really say what is the right direction.

Haven't played it, but considering all Final Fantasy games tend to be different from each other, it's not a "step in the right direction". It's just a new entry. Different than how all the previous 14 games were.

I mean, I'm fine with FF being a real time ARPG now. I actually love the idea of being able to enjoy the epic battles the series usually offers to us in a more active gameplay enviroment. The execution of FF XV, however, is awful. The battle system has too much shit going on to be practical. Also, the character movement is slow as fuck. We need quick response, speed and simple but deep battle mechanics. This game has nothing of that.

To be honest, I would be much happier if the gameplay was similar to what they showed when it was still VS XIII. Tabata really fucked this shit up.

I'm not fan of the franchise and I played like 3 hours of xv, so maybe my opinion is not valid but the next entry should be more fantasy and not like xv. something about tall samurais and giant snakes in a environment so realistic is kinda weird. But overall I don't have any major complaint except for the stupid main characters but I already knew about them.

After the atrocity that was FF13, anything would be a step in the right direction.

There's no direction. It's a standalone game.

And being a standalone game, I still feel that I am playing a Final Fantasy game.

The plot probably could have been better. You can see where a lot of stuff was taken out from all the trailers we were shown. Its a different game. Especially if you're going from being a fan of turn based to action. I like action games so I dont have a problem adapting to this game.

The game is good. It could be better and it could have been quite something had they followed the dark tone they wanted in the beginning. But this is coming from playing 5 hours of the game. My opinion can change in another 5 hrs.
