Forums - General Discussion - Cure for CANCER in Blushwood Tree found in Australia

The first thing people need to get into their heads is that there is no single cure for cancer. Cancer is not a single virus, it's a symptom that can take many very different forms. You'd need a cure for every different version of cancer, which are quite a few. That's not even taking into account that different bodies react in different ways to cancer treatment.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Only cure for cancer is gene engineering from within the womb.

Seriously. I wish the media stop regurgitating this bullshit about cancer as a single disease. Heck, most people consider "cancer" to be the solid tumor variety (like lung cancer or breast cancer) and while they are more common than hematological malignancies (like the leukemias) they are also vastly different from them. So, no, a single cure for cancer is absolutely impossible even if we knew the exact mechanisms on why cancer occurs in the first place. And we don't.

The have been loads of these cures for what ever in the past few decades but things remain the same, either they're not as effective as thought or curing cancer removes a large amount of income for some groups of people, take your pick.

I will pick the second option.

There are already a tonne of effective treatments for cancers of many kinds and there are many kinds of cancer that can already be effectively cured if they are diagnosed at a sufficiently early state. It's just that we don't have a single approach that is safe, effective and relatively free of side effects that cure most cancers in most conditions.

There may in fact never be a single cure for all kinds of cancer, because as several people have already pointed out, it isn't really a single disease, rather a class of diseases but in the mean time any compound that shows efficacy in some types of cancer is another weapon in the arsenal until an approach that is more globally effective is discovered.

In short, this substance may cure cancer in some people but it's probably not going to be the ultimate cure for cancer (which may not even exist).

abit of shark dna goes in, and tada! super human, thats immune to cancer.

Now lets find out why some fish/turtles live hundreds of years, and do that to ourselves too.

Im a firm believer that its only a matter of time, until we understand our own dna well enough, that we ll want controll of its design in our off spring.

At some point we ll start seeing super humans, genetically altered to be better, than the avg folks walking around.

Exactly. im no pro at this but imho the last few diseases that are kicking our ass that we cant cure are going to require gene shaping of some kind. I dont think we have the resources to test every plant and every fruit on this planet to find a cure. We are going to have to breed out the last few diseases. Or clone ourselves and our love ones once we get a illness that will kill them. It would be like starting over from a previous save file if you need to change a choice you made in a video game.

Yeah, that's about the 14th time this year I hear from a cure for cancer. And just like always, it isn't the cure for cancer. There couldn't possibly be a universal cure for such a complicated matter.

Just for the future, always be skeptical when you hear there is a cure for cancer. Consider such news fake until all other possibilities are completely ruled out. The same is true for Aliens. It's never Aliens. If some asshole is posting again that somewhere Aliens have been found, consider that false until every single possibility of another explanation can be ruled out scientifically. The same is true for the finding of a perpetual motion machine. Again, consider such news always false. This is also true for surpassing the speed of light. Was reported many times, turned out as bullshit everytime. It's also true for...

In a nutshell: Every time you hear something utopian, it is most likely bullshit.

From Wiki page

In 2014 it was reported that EBC-46, an extract from the berry of the blushwood tree, was effective in more than 70% of cases of certain cancer situations destroying long-term cancers of the head, neck, and colon in animals as well as in a laboratory melanoma model.[5] Initial studies showed no evidence that it was effective in metastatic cancers.[5] Studies are ongoing to test the agent for human applications.

It's from 2014 even, so this isn't a "finally it's here now there is a cure" It's a "hey there is something with a certain type of cancer situation which can do certain things" not at all what was being portrayed in the video sadly.

You are just saying that because it's Hylandia which is clearly of Hylian origins.. *tsk tsk* way to make this political Ganon. Can we move this to the Nintendo Politics Section?

Hahah, Fear not, the Gerudo Pharmacutical industry will profit the most from any discoveries on my lands!
