I've asked in the proper thread for it without a response, so I'll ask you since you're in my situation (PS4 Pro but only 1080p screen lol), is the difference like enough to notice, like in this .gif?

Because that alone is a pretty great increase, and if I can get that at 1080p and with a higher framerate, I'll be so happy!

That picture represents the difference you'll get in the 1080p mode, yes.

On another note, does anyone know how to get uncompressed screenshots onto a forum like this? I've only ever uploaded screenshots to Twitter with the OG ps4, but that compresses them to hell and the differences would get smudged out.

You need to copy them to a USB stick (png files), then upload to imgur or picpar and use the direct link here.

Thanks, I might try to post some screenshots tomorrow.

If that splitter works, I'll buy one today. Keep us posted

No luck with the splitter. The screen keeps flashing on and off. I was able to get it to stablize, but with both plugged in it locks it to the limits of HDMI 1.4. I hooked up just the Z9D, and it worked fine, but then when I unpluged it, and plugged in the PSVR, the sceen went back to flickering, and I couldn't get it to stop. I am using brand new HDMI 2.0 cables for every connection, so I don't know if the switch is defective, or what, but I gave up for now. After swapping cables for about an hour today, I am actually getting really good at doing it,so I may just live with it and hope a PS4 with PSVR built in comes out in the next year or two. Or maybe Sony will licences an official splitter/switch to patch their fumble.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

I got mine today and was able to try many games on it just to see. Used it on a Sony Bravia model 2013 at 1080p. I can tell you for sure that it's faster, sharper and the colours are nicer as well. Nice but slight improvement on graphics especially if you're sitting closer to the TV. Now imagine it in beautiful 4K, I can't wait. Now just waiting for a good sale on the Sony Bravia XBR55X930D. Probably on Black Friday. Cheers. JayW

It was already near perfect, very minimal gains.

The last of us feels smoother on the pro, sticks to 60fps I guess while maybe the ps4 was slightly under?

I'm glad the improvements on PSVR are 10 times bigger
This is version 1.07, says pro support in the patch notes. It has HDR which I can't enable, yet maybe I have to lock the fps to 30 to get supersampling?

I checked the difference between unlocked and locked 30fps on tlou at 1080p on the pro, no difference. The game looks pretty much the same as on the ps4.

The whole of The Last of Us Remastered, meanwhile, can be played at 30 FPS in 2160p or a smoother 60 FPS in 1800p. Players of either game without a 4K TV also benefit from the higher resolution rendering, just downscaled to 1080p.

I can't spot the difference. It runs a bit smoother on pro, that's it.

Yeah it looks like unless the game is sub 1080p, the Pro offers small gains, if noticable. Looks like the console is worth it if you have the 4K TV.

Check this out (watch atleast in 1440p):

It is really heavy compared to the original model. It Feels like it is made of bricks and steel. Craigs list conmen will have to put 3 bricks instead of towels in their empty box.

That's a good thing. If it's heavy, you know it's built to last...

Based on what I heard from some playstation channels, the games that do support the pro only offer a boost in resolution and some of them do it at the expense of performance.

Pretty much, some things deff look better, old games just play well just as you are used to, some games, like fifa 17 just run perfect on 4k, others, like skyrim and the last of us deliver the 4k experience but take a big hit in performance, the last of us used to be 60fps/1080p and on 4k with 30fps you do really get a worse gameplay experience for a better graphical experience, on skyrim, well, the game goes from a solid 30fps from the base ps4 to a 4k experience with more framedrops.

Other games, however, like Battleifled 1 and Titanfall don't go full native 4k, but use a dynamic resolution of around 1440P (the sweet spot for ps4pro it seems) and manage to improve the performance over the base model because the resolution might drop, but the frames won't as much as on the base PS4.

overall you can really see native 4k won't be used much but the bump in resolution is nice, for people that own a 4k television.

Personally I only played on the pro for 4-5 hours since I don't own one myself, but the two games that really did a good job where Infamous and Tomb Raider, they let you choose either a bump in resolution or a higher frames per second, and the higher FPS was really what I would want, the games got more responsive, played better and it felt like the experience I would want to play over the original.

But I am sad to see resolution (graphics) is prefered over gameplay (fps) by most developers and sony

Big hit in performance ? Bullshit. You don't own one yourself ? LOL

There are 3 games that nobody cares about including 2 modes of old remastered games that have rare occassional framerate drops not seen on regular PS4 (because the res is too high for the Pro, but it's probably going to be patched).

All the others big AAA games significantly improve resolution not at the expense of framerate, indeed sometimes the framerate is significantly improved like for Battlefield 1.
