There is no such thing as a hybrid of portable and console. If a device is portable, then it is not a home console.

Switch's hardware is mobile. Its form factor is mobile. The dock and the detachable controllers are just additional features, no different from PSP's ability to be connected to a TV, or Vita's ability to stream PS4 games wirelessly.

But there is, Switch is hybrid, hardware, OS, controllers, games, features...all are made in order that Switch can be used like real home console and real handheld. Of Course that hybrid of home console and handheld needs to be portable also in order to be used like handheld also, you can't have hybrid of home console and hybrid if you can't use device like handheld offcourse. Switch in hands is portable device, Switch in dock with separate controller in your hands makes Switch home device, so there you have form factor of handheld and home console.

If CPU or GPU are mobile doesnt mattar at all (XB1/PS4 CPU is notebook CPU, so that makes it mobile CPU also), form factor is bouth portable and home. Dock and detachable controllers are not additional features, they are core and essential features of Switch for using like real home console of course, same like using Switch like handheld on go.

Again you constantly ignoring clear facts, Switch can be ue used like real home console with all features of home console, basically Switch has all features like of home console, and of handheld, thats why its a hybrid.

At end, you can keep deny all arguments and facts and you consider Switch just for version of PSP, but reality is totally different.

That's not a clear fact, it's marketing PR.

It's normal for new generations of portables to add features, like PSP connecting to a TV or Vita streaming PS4 games, Switch is simply the next logical step.

Oh, and guess what; turns out you can play PSP on a TV with an external controller too.

Its not at all marketing PR, it's clear fact like we saw in Switch video.

Yes, you can use PS3 controller for PSP, but you need to buy separately PS3 controller and you even need to buy separate cable for connecting PSP to TV. But Switch its not just a handheld with ability to connect to TV, again: its built from ground and with main purpose that can act like real home console and like real handheld out of box, OS is built with that purpose, hardware is built with that purpose, controls are are build with those purpose, games are built with those purpose, hybrid, (so it not just handheld that has just option to have just picture on TV like PSP) that's why home console users and handheld users will buy it, you cant say that for PSP. Whole point of Switch is to "switch" between home console mode and handheld mode, it's a hybrid. So saying that Switch is just handheld that can be connected to TV like PSP or Vita is totally wrong, but you keep deny that fact, so I really has nothing to say to you on this matter because you totally denying or ignoring facts, you can continue thinking that Switch is same thing like PSP even reality is totally different.

"Purpose" in the sense you're using it amounts to pretty much just marketing though. PSP was made with the ability to be played on a TV. It just didn't use this feature as the cornerstone of its marketing. What matters is functionality, and PSP has the functionality of being playable both portably and on a TV screen, which is the same core idea as Switch. The only meaningful difference is that Switch does it better, but that's to be expected of a device two generations newer.

Can you play PS3 games on the PSP? No? Not a hybrid console then. The PSP was simply a handheld that could be connected to the tv - a mere gimmick that most people didn't use.

The Switch is merging the handheld and home console divisions of Nintendo and is therefor the only console to date that can call itself a true hybrid console. This isn't marketing, this is a fact. Nintendo recently restructered their entire software division for this very reason. The big advantage to this is that Nintendo's developers don't have to learn how to create games for two very different consoles. As a result they'll be much more efficient and specialized, resulting in more games being made.

It's mobile Tegra hardware in a portable form factor. It's a handheld that connects to your TV.

You're not listening. It doesn't matter what's inside the console, what matters is the complete overhaul of Nintendo's gaming divisions to support the Nintendo Switch. There will no longer be a handheld and home console division. Developers will no longer have to learn how to program and code for two entirely different systems. All of that is a thing of the past and it's this that makes the Switch a true hybrid console - unlike any other console that came before it. It's not marketing at all, it's the reality we (and Nintendo) are facing.

If everything goes according to plan the Switch will have mainline Pokémon games, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, 2D Zelda, 3D Zelda, etc.

Hopefully we also get a first person adventure Metroid game alongside a 2D Metroid. That's what it means to have a hybrid console: no longer will there be games that are only made for handhelds or home consoles. We'll get both type of games on the same system.

Nintendo's studio structuring has no bearing on the functionality of the device itself. All of Sony's studios have been focussed on PS4 instead of split between PS4 and Vita, that doesn't make PS4 a hybrid.

The PS4 isn't a hybrid console because it can't play games on the go...

And no Vita streaming doesn't count. Having to buy two systems goes against the very idea of a HYBRID CONSOLE.

Nintendo's studio structering is the single most important aspect of the Switch and it's here where its innovativity lies.

Sony is no longer active in the handheld market, they lost out, big time.

Studio structuring is irrelevant to the device itself. It is portable hardware, in a portable form factor.
