That's not a clear fact, it's marketing PR. It's normal for new generations of portables to add features, like PSP connecting to a TV or Vita streaming PS4 games, Switch is simply the next logical step. Oh, and guess what; turns out you can play PSP on a TV with an external controller too. http://www.kotowari.org/how-to-hook-your-psp-go-up-to-a-tv-and-play-with-a-dualshock-3/

Can you play PS3 games on the PSP? No? Not a hybrid console then. The PSP was simply a handheld that could be connected to the tv - a mere gimmick that most people didn't use.
The Switch is merging the handheld and home console divisions of Nintendo and is therefor the only console to date that can call itself a true hybrid console. This isn't marketing, this is a fact. Nintendo recently restructered their entire software division for this very reason. The big advantage to this is that Nintendo's developers don't have to learn how to create games for two very different consoles. As a result they'll be much more efficient and specialized, resulting in more games being made.
