Well, we all know Nintendo handhelds are kind of a big deal, save the Virtual Boy, all of them wipped the floor with the almost non existent competition, even the 3DS sold 60 million units!

Now, if you are thinking about buying a Nintendo handheld, how about a handheld that plays the big heavy hitters like Skyrim and Warch Dogs 2?

Wait, what if you do not have to worry about buying a console as well, cause the handheld is a console.

Just crazy.

If you like Nintendo handheld, you get a console for free. If you like Nintendo consoles, you get a handheld for free.

Also you have two detachable controlers to show off to that hot girl in a date in the park or whatever.

It is just super cool, super exciting and I think we may be looking at Wii levels of sales, seriously.

I am totally convinced that Nintendo went for the throat this time. I am so happy.

by the way, the new 3d mario looks like Galaxy and I think the Switch uses less of its power while in handheld mode, to save energy.

I totally think it will have all the big titles the PS4 and Xbox One has, with impressive visuals, according to what we know from NVidia.

Can´t wait for april 2017. Sounds like a KO from the big N.

Amazing amazing amazing!

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Gonna need a lot more details about the NS before I'm totally sold on it but in concept, it is interesting.

If the rumored specs are true then ... you know that "jack of all trades but master of none" line? That.

If doesn't look like a very good on-the-go handheld and it might not be a very good home console in terms of third party gaming, either. Both of those are important factors for many people.

Now, I'm not saying it won't be successful. It will have some very popular software. At the same time, though, I don't see why it would be a "gigantic smash hit".

I'll just quote this to read again in a while, because apparently there's in fact nothing ironic in the OP (that's what I thought at first).

looks awesome. I'll be getting it and I have been extremely blah about Nintendo's last few home console iterations. I hardly used my Wii and besides occasionally with other people have almost entirely skipped the Wii U

this looks great though :o

I don't think it will be successful.

Its a 720p tablet. Competing in a world already jam packed with tablets. All that are more open and will be have more functionality than Switch. A couple of controller nubs won't make a difference when its just another tablet in a world filled with tablets.

Like you, I'm not saying that the NS will fail but from what we know and what we can reasonably deduce, it doesn't seem like it's going to please anyone outside of core Nintendo fans.  The NS is probably a core Nintendo fan's dream since this heavily implies a combined 1st party library but to everyone else, it seems like it's either going to be too expensive or too weak for them to care about it.  Core gamers probably care more about the PS4Pro and the xbox Scorpion now  that they can assume that the NS is going to be weak while casuals and kids will probably be content sticking with free/cheap smartphone/tablet games.

Amazing amazing amazing!

This is from circa E3 2012, when some Nintendo fans got a little too cocky:

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

I have no doubt NX will be massively successful in Japan. And yes, there are tons of tablets out there but not many of them have Smash Bros., 3D Mario, and Breath of the wild. That's the stupidest defense for any argument. Games sell hardware, not the idea of the hardware. NES wasn't more powerful than the Master System, but the games sold very well because they were good games. Word of mouth went around and NES became huge. That's not the case all the time but Nintendo has done this several times.

Same for mobile. Yes, runners have been made before, but none are official Mario or Nintendo themed runners. Nintendo has brand power and IP strength on their side. All NX needs to do is turn a profit on day 1. Which Kimishima said, NX wont' be sold at a loss. Success doesn't have to mean units sold. It first and foremost means that your product is profitable. The Gamecube was slain by PS2 and even the Xbox but you know what, Nintendo still churned out hundreds of millions of profit every quarter during that period. It's about profitability.

Totally agree, this looks much better than the WiiU and Wii, it is something I always wanted: being able to play the handheld gems like normal games and on the go in the off chance I want someday.

Also, GAME FREAK is now ours, we gotta them where we wanted them, nowhere to run baby, next Pokemon RPG will be on my gigantic TV.
