I hope not, its a really bad moment to start promoting your console in march, no details yet, the internet is full of awful rumours people will find when searching for the product, there is already a negativity towards nintendo because of the Wii-U they need to promote it more and longer and really have a good showing.

After I didn't see it at the Tokio Game Show I realized if they want to do it right, they will launch it later.
I don't think it will be march because I think Nintendo is smarter then that

In tech industry 3-4 months of very good and strong marketing is much better than having 6-12 or even months of usual marketing. All rumours will be totaly ireleveant (even now they are reveleant just for hard core gamers) moment Nintendo officially revel NX, same goes for negativity about Nintendo (not to mentione that Nintendo actualy have positives staffs in recent time not negativies, huge win on E3 with Zelda, Pokemon GO win, Mario at Olympics announcement and Super Mario Run, they are all very positive staffs, not negative).

Nintendo can (and most likly will) revel NX in October and launch it in March and do it right.

- no big show left
- big holliday season before the release
- launching in a window with a lot of good games coming on competitors consoles around that time (early next year, Persona5, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Crackdown, Sea of thieves, Halo Wars 2)
- not just needing to promote a console but getting people back after the failture of their last home console.

Its going to be a hard sell, when I look at potential buyers like my sisters, who both own a wii and a 3ds, they are both buying new consoles in the holliday to play some games with their kids and play world of final fantasy and final fantasy 15, I told them there was a new console coming couldn't tell them what it was, they might concider it next holliday season or after a strong showing else bamm, thats the target market, its too short.

They don't need to sell it to you, you are a Nintendo fan, there are many people like you but they need to get in tune with that wii-crowd again, its really hard to promote something in oktober, when there is a holliday season to steal your thunder and no big show to really show it off, how many people will watch whatever nintendo does in the time between now and march, the people that would have bought it regardless.

Just my opinion, but I think and hope it will be a later release date with a good show-off before they launch it, they would need to do that to convince me too, for sure. And this thing needs to launch well

I guess. October to march is enough to build enough momentum.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

By the time March comes, Nintendo will have nothing to show for the 3DS andWiiU. Nothing. So they'll need the NX rolling by then.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

-you really don't need big show, you just need good revel and marketing

-of course you have holiday season before beacuse March is release date

-those are all february titles, you dont have anuthing for now in March, and offcourse that new platform with Zelda and some other stronger title will be much stronger than any other title

-Of Course, but for that you just need good revel, good product, affordable price and strong launch lineup (bascicly on all this Wii U failed)

Fact is that you reveal NX before holiday season that people are aware that brand new Nintendo console with brand new great Nintendo games are coming in March right after holiday season, in order that some people save their holiday money. It seems that Nintendo is aiming mass market with NX same like they aiming with Wii, that doesnt mean only Nintendo fans and core gamers, if console have good revel, solid new concept (hybrid devaice is actualy very good concept, handheld and home console in one), afordible price, good marketing and great launch lineup (we know Zelda is there), NX will sell good even in March.

I don't believe it. Nintendo said it the will release it on that date.

I don't think Nintendo will show NX at some big show. They will just make NX Direct instead. For the last years it seems Nintendo is way more interested in this format.

Isn't it obvious?
Nintendo announced it for March 2017.

There's no need for Nintendo to unveil it before early 2017. And I'd argue the console industry is silly for unveiling things so early in the past. With the Wii U and 3DS, as examples, all the hype it had dried up by the time of launch. It's worse when there is a holiday season between the unveiling and the launch because no one is going to be focused on what is coming out next year, they're looking forward to what's coming out this year. By far the biggest reason 3DS lacked excitement by the time launch occurred was because it missed the holiday season.

On the other hand, mobile companies have announced their products weeks to days before release, and they have done stunningly well on launch.

Even if you don't SHOW it at a show people will get to PLAY it at that show, big difference, NX consoles and games and the way to play and promote it should be at E3, Gamescon, Tokio game show, get the people and professionals the product in their hands, share their experience, Nintendo is selling innovation, you need to show it, you need to put it in the hands of potential buyers and you need to create hype.

Even if they don't show anything at the show itself but just set up boots, nintendo treehouse etc etc, it will work better then announcing something very late and not really giving people the option to play with the console.

Also they need enough time to get the rumours and hate off the recent search results and get experiences, hands on and facts to people.

I'm not saying you guys need to agree with me, im saying what I would think is smart and what would help Nintendo, I would be pleasently supprised if they can prove me wrong, but seeing as how they promoted the Wii-U and the 3DS which both struggled (and the 3DS recovered) because of the way they sold it, I am having trouble beleaving they are doing the right thing if they decide to release in march

The problem is - Nintendo had a chance to show NX to the public at this year's E3 but they missed that chance by some reason. It will be a bad idea to delay NX again so it is almost 100% guaranteed that NX will launch in March. Even without showing it to general public. At least Nintendo has new Zelda game which was demonstrated at E3 and people played it there. So they will just push Zelda for NX and a lot of people will buy NX just for this game

Good point about the heavy promotion of Zelda, and stealing the show. Nintendo has already been marketing NX software. Not many people are looking at it as a Wii U game anymore.
