Isn't it obvious?
Nintendo announced it for March 2017.
There's no need for Nintendo to unveil it before early 2017. And I'd argue the console industry is silly for unveiling things so early in the past. With the Wii U and 3DS, as examples, all the hype it had dried up by the time of launch. It's worse when there is a holiday season between the unveiling and the launch because no one is going to be focused on what is coming out next year, they're looking forward to what's coming out this year. By far the biggest reason 3DS lacked excitement by the time launch occurred was because it missed the holiday season.
On the other hand, mobile companies have announced their products weeks to days before release, and they have done stunningly well on launch.
I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
