PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro?

I've pre-ordered the pro, but having seen the slim at EGX, wow its smaller than I expected... and the Pro doesn't look that big at all.

I'm torn about getting a slim of the office, but I think for now, I'll go with the pro for VR benefits.

I'm honestly not familiar with any of the Souls games. I never played one before.

I wasn't too when I first played Bloodborne and I loved every seconds of it! It's the best game on PS4 currently.

And I'd buy a Pro if I was you. You'll get noticeable improvement even on 1080p TV. All 900p games will run at 1080p or more (Battlefied 1, probably next main Battlefield 5, FFXV), many games will run downsampled from checkerboard 4K (like Horizon), some games will have better framerate (upcoming games Tomb Raider 2, or old games like Infamous SS that are going to be patched) and some others will have better effects, AA, textures etc. like Parangon.

Also if you want to resell it one day (when PS5 is released or if you need money) you'll get a much better price than the Slim IMO.

Finally the 4Pro is better looking than the Slim!

EDIT: If you are living in the USA you can buy the Uncharted 4 LE PS4 bundle for $299 on Amazon.com if you are a Prime member. Apparently you can try Prime for free for 30 days. I'd buy this one instead of the Slim UC4 bundle if I had to choose IMO. This model will have a great reselling price.

Alright. I'll try that game out then.

Yeah. The main thing that appeals to me for the PS4 Pro is performance improvements over the regular/Slim PS4s. The graphical enhancements and resolution increase are a plus to me too.

Even though that's something I could do, I would rather not sell my systems. It's just simply not my thing to do. Thanks for telling me, though.

I actually have Amazon Prime right now. I would like to get that version of the PS4, but I've read reviews that this particular version of the PS4 has some issues.

Everyone keeps saying that that PS4 Pro is only $100 more, but since it does not come bundled with a game while the PS4 Slim does come bundled with a game, the price difference should be seen as $150 and not $100.

Since if you wanted a PS4 Pro and Uncharted 4, or other bundled game, it would cost you $450 for what only costs $300 with the slim.

Unless, or until, the PS4 Pro comes with a game bundle I think we should refer to the price difference as $150.

Good point about the price difference between the Slim and the Pro. I'll edit my OP a bit later on.

I think if you want the best looking games, go for the Pro. If you don't mind the quality difference and just want to play games, go for the Slim.

Thanks for your input. Right now, I'm leaning towards the PS4 Pro, but the PS4 Slim's Uncharted 4 bundle is appealing to me too.

Seems kind of like a no-brainer although throwing in what is still currently a $60 game that most PS4 owners should play (but not all will buy) slightly tilts the equation if you're planning buying it along with the console.

But, for $100 more, you're getting quite a bit more than $100 more in specs, even if just allowing for the difference in what $399 buys in 2016 vs what it bought in 2013.

Sure, one can say "I'm NEVER buying a 4K HDTV" or at least not one within the next 5 years, lessening the reason for the premium cost or they have no interest in PS VR, but at that point the question is really just a matter of do you want the updated hardware and performance or do you want to save $100?

That's pretty much what I'm trying to figure out. I'm leaning more towards the Pro than the Slim, but Uncharted 4 being bundled with the Slim is a great deal imo.

I think I would personally rather buy the Pro rather than buy a Slim and then "upgrade" within a year or two.

I suppose it really depends upon your purchasing habits. If you're the type who buys a console and that's it for five years until you buy the next generation rather than the type who buys more than one of the same console (a hardware refresh) you may be okay with saving $100. But on the other hand, it's only $100. This is the first time a console has actually had a significant hardware upgrade rather than just a die shrink, a smaller case and a cheaper BoM/MSRP. You're buying a lot more for that extra $100.

U4 will go on sale eventually; it's a matter of when you plan on playing it. Obviously you could wait since you don't already have a PS4.

A lot of people have been recommending that over the Slim, so I think it makes sense to go that way.

When I buy a system, I usually stick with it even if there's an enhanced version of one that is released later on like the New 3DS XL, but since I haven't gotten a PS4 yet,  it definitely makes more sense to that one over the Slim.

I haven't played any of the Uncharted games yet (besides Golden Abyss on the PS Vita), so I think I'll be playing the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection, InFAMOUS Second Son, and God of War III Remastered before playing Uncharted 4.

Besides the games I already mentioned in the OP, what other ones do you recommend?

The Pro has a good price for "just" a 100$ more.

I agree. Funny thing was that I was expecting the PS4 Pro to be $400 since I knew it was going to be more expensive than the PS4 Slim (during the PlayStation conference). It's a great deal imo, but the PS4 Slim's bundle is a great one too.

Pro. If you're gonna spend $299 on a console, might as well spend an extra $100 on the definitive experience unless you're money constraint.

I think the difference between Pro-enabled games will increase as the generations goes on, especially in 1080p mode.

If you don't have a 4k TV just go for the slim. PS4 Pro is a joke and in most games you won't notice the difference, they will run at 30fps.

Even the resolution boost PS4 pro provides for 4k TV owners is a joke, it's upscaled resolution.

At the current pricing, the Pro is a no-brainer. Just 100 bucks more for almost 3X more power. Also mind that 500GB is nothing for modern games, I have a OG PS4 and will replace the HDD soon. So you will probably just have to replace the HDD on the Slim, so why not grab the Pro already with 1TB and get more features?
