Nintendo used a word for their 7th generation console that is also used for both urine AND dicks so, it's safe to say, they don't put much research into the whole "let's not name it something that can be trolled" concept lol.
I think Nintendo will name it something that goes along with handhelds and home consoles joining together.

You forgot GBA, it was a different platform than GB. If you combine the two, then you have to combine DS and 3DS.

It would also be the Next console generation completely, when you consider that the WiiU/PS4 and X1 make up the 8th Generation so whatever system that Nintendo drop will be the first Ninth Generation Console.
I see a lot of people mention Nintendo Go which would be a cool name... but I feel that name has been slightly tainted by the recent handling of Pokemon Go by Niantic.
I do think Go would be an awesome idea for the system if it is something you can pick up and go with.

Like I said above, it would be a cool name... but Meme's instantly popping up of Nintendo Go (away) would rise, still though if the rumours are true it would be a cool name to put on the system.
Just as long as we don't see a hardware Revision like the X1Scorp or the PS4P... I'm not sure the Nintendo Go Pro would sound as good lol. (or not get hit with patents from Go Pro owners)

That was why I said it was a bit of a Stretch to do that, and yeah I bolded the fact that it is compressing the Gameboy advance into the Gameboy family as a whole. (it also leaves out 2 other Nintendo systems to make it work lol)

Or just Wii as Prayformojo said earlier in the thread, a console name which everyone thought was a disaster before the launch.
Or do you mean the how close the Wii U name was to the Wii? Because lets be fair to Nintendo in one regard, the Wii/U name and confusion blunder was not the first time they used a naming scheme on 2 generations before, Don't forget that in Gen 3 they had Nintendo Entertainment System and in Gen 4 they just added Super to make it the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a move which could be rather confusing if it was marketed as badly as the WiiU was (a lot of people still think it was either an addon or a portable system which required a Wii system)
