Good sales!

What other boosts are coming for ps4 in the near future?

I'll list a few coming this year but note that some will boost a lot more than others.

BF1 - First time series is next gen only

Infinite Warfare / COD4

Yakuza 6 - First time series is next gen exclusive

PS4 Pro launch

PS4 slim final fantasy XV limited edition launch

Final Fantasy XV launch

PSVR launch

Gravity Rush 2

World of Final Fantasy

The last guardian

Then you have many smaller titles like FIFA 17, watch dogs 2 etc etc.

Basically ps4 2016 sales will be very healthy and will not be far off the ps3 peak year sales of 1.8m.

PS4 did better then I predicted. I do wonder how this gen would have gone in Japan if Online Multiplayer was still free for PS. It seems to me that the online multiplayer subscription style does not appeal that well to Japans demographics as can be seen with the history of Xbox and the slow start for the PS4 against two weak competitors.

Fantastic sales for Persona 5, nice to see.

3DS did pretty well too and damn, Minecraft legs are huge everywhere it goes, now with Wii U too.

This actually gives some perspective.

PS4 has only received mainline titles from 8 of these 30 best selling franchises and as you say 0 from the top 10.

I'm not expecting PS2 numbers at all but it'll be interesting to see how much PS4 will benefit from these big games.

A lot of the biggest games will release within 12 months.

Final Fantasy XV - November 29, 2016
Yakuza 6 - December 8, 2016
Resident Evil 7 - January 26, 2017
Tekken 7 - Early 2017
Dragon Quest XI - 2017
Gran Turismo Sport - 2017
Hot Shots Golf - 2017
Kingdom Hearts 3 - 2017
Gundam Versus - 2017

Great first week for Persona 5!!! This series has become so popular over the couple of years in Japan!!!
PS4 got a good boost from Persona 5 and the Slim. But tbh I expected a bit more. A positive thing is that PS Vita got a little boost too this week (maybe from Persona 5???). xD

Am I crazy or why is the PS Vita number different in the NeoGAF thread?
