Last Call For Votes! Voting Closes After Today!
Hi everyone!
As you may know, I am currently writing articles about the history of the Final Fantasy series for VgChartz in preparation for the release of FF XV. This also got me thinking about writing something about one of the series most iconic and important aspects, namely its music. Ever since the beginning, music has played a huge part in creating the identity of Final Fantasy.
So, I wanted to talk about the best music the series has to offer in some form. Eventually I decided to go with a list counting down the top 50 best Final Fantasy songs. However, I believe the list wouldn't come out right if I just made it all by myself. As such, I'm asking everyone here on VgChartz to help me make this list.
How this works:
Basically, I would like you to list your five favourite songs from the series in order from most to least favourite. The song you place as your favourite will get 5 points, the second gets 4 points, and so on. I understand that choosing just five might be quite difficult, but going much higher than that makes counting the votes much more complicated and time consuming. Here's an example on how to do this:
1. You're Not Alone (FF IX) = 5pts
2. The Extreme (FF VIII) = 4pts
3. Valley of the Fallen Star (FF VII) =3pts
4. Zanarkand (FF X) = 2pts
5. Battle on the Big Bridge (FF V) = 1pts
What you need to do is give the name of the song and the game it is from. The reason for including the name of the game is that quite a few of the tracks have appeared in multiple games, so I need to know which version you mean. You can name songs from ANY Final Fantasy game you want, including any sequels or spin-offs.
However, the game needs to carry the name Final Fantasy, so no songs from Kingdom Hearts for example. You can either leave your vote on this thread, or if you want to keep your vote secret to keep things interesting you can send it directly to me. Either way, it will be counted.
One additional rule is that I will only count votes from people who have at least 50 posts made on the forums, to prevent people from using multiple accounts for voting. As far as counting the votes is concerned, in case two or more games get the same number of points, then the game with the higher number of 1st places will get the higher position. If there is still a tie, then the number of people who voted for a specific song determines the order, regardless of in which position it was in on their top 5. After that the deciding factor becomes the number of points, first places and votes the entire game received. The song that is from the game with more of those takes precedence. If there still remains a tie even after all that, I will just make the decision myself. I doubt it will come to that though.
Deadline: October 1st. Make sure to leave your votes before that.
