N4G had nothing to do with the decline, that started way before N4G articles stopped appearing on the frontpage and users here didn't notice when those articles disappeared.

Personally, i feel that when Gamewise was created was when things started to shift around here.

I was mostly talking about the decline that started once the numbers stopped being updated. Also, why stop at Gamewise? Machina once said that things really started to change when gamrconnect was first introduced. That was obviously way before I was even a lurker here.

Gamewise? That's pretty much prehistoric times for some of us newer members

It took away the game database. Then the site started losing purpose for the points system.

ioi stopped treating VGC like he gave a damn about it because he shifted focus and talent from vgchartz to gamewise. Leaving this site to pretty much die on its own.

Don't get me wrong, it took a while to truly fall into a slump but i feel that was sort of the first major hiccup.

And now Gamewise is more or less dead. I wonder what are the chances of bringing back the Game DB to VGChartz...

I'm gonna say last year was worse. ioi was just as active back then, numbers were constantly 1 or 2 months behind and very unfrequently updated (now we're a month behind, but get weekly updates), the ads problem was also here last year, and the site also went down a couple too many times last year.

This year Trucks started working on the site, we got the supporters program which helps the writing team which is always getting better and better, and a mobile version of the site will be coming soon (not as soon as I expected tho). The forum itself, I think it's worse, but besides saying "good users left" I dont have a good answer for that.

Something that I do find annoying this year is how "permanent" bans have appearently lost their meaning...

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

What bothers me is that when forum contributors post news articles from other sites in to these forums, the same sources are posted in the news article of this site within the same day. Is the staff leeching off of forum supports for new articles, or is this a coincidence?

Talking from experience, I use my sources from 2 rules:

1. The first site that posts the article; or

2. The site with the better and more reliable content.

I get these through Twitter, and as soon as I see them I start writing the news article.

If a thread here uses the same source, it's a coincidence. And if it wasn't (like, I see the news here before Twitter), I avoid copy pasting as much as possible.

Of course, I write 2% of the news William is super experienced, faster, and better at writing than me, so it's purely coincidence (but it isn't odd at all for it to happen).

The numbers are about the same though there have been some improvements to the site as a whole

The thread quality and what gets the most clicks haven't though

Yes! Gamewise is his big money maker now so he cares little for this site. When more and more games gp digital he will have less and less interest.

Gamewise is making money? Huh, that place seems kinda dead to me. The last article was posted over a month ago!

Last year ? I don't know.

Today's the first time that I've posted here in over 8 months, so you tell me.

Much worse as far as the atmosphere and population goes. I feel like we have devolved as a community and everyone acts so damn petty now. Literally just see people complaining now a days and it's a move that I see the larger part of my generation doing. The biggest thing is that everyone acts so poisonous with their consumer mentality, where products have become guilty until proven innocent, where we are sharply criticizing products we never intended to buy in the first place. And it's not just one side. Everyone has a stick up their ass these days. It's only a matter of time before the last few good people around here vanish

I don't post as much as I used to but that's because of personal reasons. That said when I do post the forums seem a little.... barren. Performance is fine. I have no idea how often the numbers get updated, to be honest I rarely pay attention to them. Perhaps having a schedule or a countdown to when the next update is due would add more value in that regard.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
