I find it funny how DC universe fans expect the movies to be exactly like the comics.

I like the twist they are giving to the DC cinematic universe. Its not the old and tired DC formula.

Of course, i don't think its as good as marvel, but its at least entertaining .

I've never really read the Suicide Squad comics, so I don't really care about that. 

The movie just had literally no plot. 

Even the whole job of the Suicide Squad was stupid because it the "danger" was created by the stupid government official by letting the witch (who's supposed to be part of the team) get loose. 

Then the plot is basically they go to kill the bad zombies or whatever, they stop for a drink in a bar for 15 minutes, then continue on. 

There is literally no twists/turns to the plot at all, there is barely any story here. It's just a very poor script. 

Well, I guess you can rest easy in the fact that this movie was a disappointment for WB. The budget for this thing was $350M-400M according to insiders, when you include the massive marketing budget. That means it needed ~$700M-800M to break even. I think it may leg it out to the lower end, which is probably closer to the real number, but the higher end is unreachable. While its better to break even than flop, it's not good when you're wanting to create your own MCU, which Warner Bros wants to do.

I was coming into this thread to dispute that fact that it had any redeeming points.... but reading the OP I see you meant it in a bad way not a good way... carry on.

That said I was shocked that Will Smith was semi enjoyable in this role but I think that is just basically because he was the only character which was almost fleshed out enough to make him a full movie character all the rest of them just seemed like a mess of footage from random clips found on the editing room floor, was awful to watch.

Not sure if it makes sense.... kind of like imagine a really bad performance... but imagine it in a show where all the other actors are dead... laying around him on stage just... being dead, now the bad performer doesn't seem so bad anymore does he? That is Will Smith in Suicide Squad for me.

Yeah, Joker isn't supposed to love harley, she's a possession to him, and she's not supposed to have empathy, she's a narcissistic sociopath riding Joker's lead.

The whole movie felt disjointed, and I finally found out why yesterday. Apparently, they thought the movie sucked, so they had the guys who made the trailer recut and re-edit it. That's why the whole movie felt like a trailer.

My cousin has been telling me to watch this. And sometimes she disagrees when I find something interesting(shows, movies). Now I question her tastes at all.

Maybe I'll just watch this when I have time to kill.

I enjoyed it, not the best movie ever but entertaining while you watch it.

I don't understand why ppl would expect characters to be "fleshed" out in a two hour movie, this is not a a tv show with multiple eps and seasons to do that, its rather dumb to expect that really.

The biggest and only major problem with this movie is that it's not rated R an R rating would have solved most problems. The SS would have seem more needed in an r rated movie cause instead of fighting black bubble wrap zombie things ,they could have just left them as normal lookig ppl being used by the enchantress magic.
The magic being so strong that punching and trying to knock them out didn't work, only killing them worked which would have ruled out the regulars heroes like batman etc being of much use hence you need these bad guys for the job. Also it would have added a much need umph in the action sequences seeing the SS really cut loose.

Harley Quinn is in the movie cause she is there in the comics thats the only reason they need.

Thats like asking why is Hawkeye in the avengers and why is he using a stupid bow and arrow and not some gun or other powerful weapon which we have seen shield has, answer he is in the comics and the comics he uses a bow and arrow case closed.

How often do movies fully "flesh out" characters thats not really a thing movies do often, the majority of movies gives you are character a situation and you roll with it.
