Report: Detatchable NX Controllers Support Motion Control and Force Feedback

A couple of weeks back, Eurogamer reported that the Nintendo NX will be a hybrid device combining a handheld and a home console, with detachable controllers on either side of the handheld (Thanks to Tom Phillips from Eurogamer for allowing us to use the image above).

In the past few days, Let’s Play Video Games has learned that not only was the Eurogamer report accurate, but the detachable NX controllers will support basic motion control, similar in fidelity to the Wii Remote Plus, and a form of “advanced vibration force feedback”.

LPVG has learned that these controllers are designed to phase out the Wii Remote over time, featuring much of their same functionality. Players with existing Wii Remotes will be able to use them for some multi player titles, but not all releases.

The force feedback functionality of the controller has been described by one source as “very similar to the Vive controller, in that it alters intensity, pulsing patterns and duration of vibration to mimic the sensation of a range of different movement types. It’s not just one vibration for all situations, there’s a notable difference between the hard abrupt feedback of a sword clash or the softer, longer thud of something like hitting a tennis ball.”

One of the titles which will support both the new NX detachable motion controllers and Wii Remotes for multiplayer is Just Dance 2017. We have learned since its announcement at E3 2016 that the title is planned to launch alongside the console on day one.

Our report today is based on two independent sources, one of whom acted as a source when Until Dawn: Rush of Blood leaked one week ahead of its announcement last year.

That sounds okay, i think.

It could be potentially embarrassing:

Let's say you drop one of them and it starts vibrating while looking like a button-like penis shape. What do you say then, when pondering people look at you?

"Not mine, i got my controller myself" while pointing at the remaining one :p.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Well we don't really know until we see that in demonstration at least.

hope this isn't true, kinda over motion-controls

Force feedback seems fine, but I have never enjoyed Motion Control, so I hope that is not true, even on the playstation when a game forces me, like infamous second son, to use limited motion control, I really don't enjoy it. I also have nightmares of the Wii system, that really wasn't for me.

But... Why?

A handheld with detactable controllers on the side of it... Okay I guess local co-op on the go could happend.
These controllers are motion controllers? W T F?

Get ready to see people on busses and trains, wildly swinging their arms around, while playing on the go.

Its all good and fun, until you start getting accidently punched in the face by some gamer.

I mean I don't hate on Motion Controls like many other seem to do but I'd much prefer a regular controller for once by Nintendo...

The graffiti parts? I remember thinking they were clunky, and a more difficult to control than they should have been.

So these controllers could potentially give us all the inputs of a traditional controller and be used for the next Wii Sports as well? Count me in! Motion controls are great for some types of games.
