Yeah, from an investor/business standpoint I can see them getting pissed about a delay but ultimately the game would be better for it. I saw some gameplay earlier and it didn't look as good as the reveal so I'm hoping they take their time with it.

You don't know that, if we take a look at the most extreme case such as Duke Nukem Forever it was far from true ...

A delay will give more time to develop the product but it will also be matched with higher expectations and if you don't deliver for the latter then it'll fall short quality wise ...

Oh yeah Duke nukem lol. Completely forgot about that one

But in that case we would have to also assume that NX is rubbish like the Wii U, therefore significantly reducing the number of Nintendo's potential customers due to its product design. But when we already assume that the NX is rubbish, then the timeframe for marketing becomes irrelevant because no amount of marketing will be able to save that thing.

On the other hand, if NX is good, then Xbox and Sony fans can whine as much as they want, it's not going to make a difference. The people you perceive as a threat to Nintendo's success made big efforts to deride the Wii, but it didn't work out for them. They hold no power over Nintendo.

No we wouldn't, it would just be assuming the initial reaction is negative by the majority of the gaming community (Sony and MS fans). One example would be the Gamecube. How many people avoided it because it got the title "purple lunchbox"? It was still an amazing product.

Gamecube perfect example of good product, packaged wrong. The one thing I hope Nintendo nail is the design, a crap product can still sell well if it looks good, just look at all the Jeep's on the road :)

Word, lol.

Now imagine Nintendo handing these people who are willing to base a consoles worth off of the looks of it and not its content, and imagine Nintendo handing them a console (even if it is a hybrid) that only displays 1080p Wii U graphics.

Yet again, what could go wrong? lol. Nintendo should have already announced the console and how BOTW would look and perform and the usual bs tech demos that show graphics the console will never have had. Then in Oct, release a full blown direct dedicated to software only. Then, they should sometime late Dec or early Jan have had Best Buys have a few for playable demos and software videos. EVERYONE by March 2017 should know what an NX is.

Late is acceptable in the business world if the delay is warranted.

Then I guess competing doesn't matter if you don't deliver the results whenever they matter ...

Key word is warranted.  As in the delay is both needed and beneficial.

Only warranted by high officials, not known if public warrants it ...

Yeah I think Nintendo should reveal soon just to inform people of another choice other than XOneS and PS4slim for gaming. But it seems they are very paranoid that MS or Sony will copy them. I just hope the initial reveal shows off some great games, as MS and Sony have a harder time trying to imitate Nintendo's First party gems (not the poorly polished ones).

Nintendo's A+ games are the ones that sell systems not the motion or dual screen controllers

What could go wrong? Nintendo could release the NX in different shades of pink while advertising it as the ultimate handbag accessory :)

Yes. The internet is a powerful force these days.

I'm starting to believe they are going to announce after the holiday season. Around january. Then start the marketing on full for 2-3 months to keep the consumers hyped.

In this era, the closer the reveal to the launch is, the better.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Yeah if this were a phone or some other tech, that gets a new model every year. You wouldn't want people to stop buying the current model.

Sales for Wii U are done pretty much but 3DS is still kicking, so Nintendo could loose sales there by advertising the NX too early.

I remember people still complaining about having to type in friends codes well after a full year when they updated Wii U to allow users to put in their friends username. Just saying.
