Forums - Gaming Discussion - What do you mean we got what we were promised? No Mans Sky.

Honestly, the game is getting massive hate simply because people acted like you can sit on the couch and play the game forever without getting bored. Yes there are a lot of other reasons to hate the game, but many people had too much to expect. you explore in the game...that's about it.

Oddly enough, the sky's the limit for No Man's Sky. If this was made by Sony or a company with great experience, we wouldn't be experiencing such huge issues(cough cough PC port cough). Sure, the game would still have flaws, but it wouldn't be in its current state.

As for Hello Games, I went from respecting them to hating them. Horrible actions by them in the past month. They went Ubisoft/EA on us- you NEVER go Ubisoft/EA on anyone if you're not a well known company.

Disappoint fans with your first game = Goodbye future

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

The paragraphs about planet rotations and orbits is... something.

All this NMS drama is an interesting point in the gaming industry. Not only for developer lies or gamers' dissapointments. This should also open the "Universe/space exploration" genre to everyone. Hopefully this encourages others to take on the challenge which, being brutally harsh, Hello Games failed.

I also wanna add that it is common for games to have missing features from their beta builds. How developers decide to handle that, either with no mention or straight out saying it, as we can see, is a big deal.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

That's an awfully detailed list. Too detailed for my blood, actually.

Should never have been full priced. It was a small indie game from the start and had it remained the price of one ($19.99), not much hate it would be receiving.

takes someone with some serious mental issues to sit there and make a list like that. Does he have nothing else better to do?

I basically ignored the hype for NMS(I ignore hype for most games not called Zelda, Final Fantasy or Elder Scrolls). I ended up buying it a few days after it came out because I read the reviews and wanted to try it. The reviews said it was not for everyone but if you like the idea of a space exploration game it is very good. So I was like why not.......

Well that is all I have done since them. Spent every waking moment not at work playing this game. It is so much fun. I guess what is "not in it" does not bother me because I went into it know little more than it was procedural generated and it had essentially an infinite amount of planets.

I have monitored the Reddit sub for the game and I have come to the conclusion that many gamers are entitled f-ing losers. Sitting there on their keyboards crying about how they are owed an explanation and blah. blah. blah. It's pathetic really. The whole if it were 40 dollars it would not be such a big deal thing is rediculous. Its 60 f-ing dollars... = to a dinner and a movie for 2.... it not like you just blew an entire paycheck on it.

I had better stop now. After seeing behaviour recently of many in the gaming community I want nothing to do with them.

People upset with a 'bait and switch' tactics? 'Serious Mental Issue'.

Now i would say that is being overly defensive and irrational.

A proper discourse would be: " Man, in light of all this proof i can see why people are upset or how it didn't meet expectations, as the developer clearly over promised things publicly that were changed months before release. I however am content with what i'm playing so it doesn't bother me."

I don't know what was promised and what wasn't. This is the first year I haven't even watched E3 since forever. I just know the game is supposed to be good and deep. I watched a few Twitch plays and I just didn't like what I saw. I'll just say it isn't my type of game.

I have the feeling that Sean Murray could have avoided all this shit if he knew how to talk to the press.
