I'd say this generation has been bad about it but I guess my memory could be fading and it's normal.  The hate has been pretty strong on some games this gen.

I would add

ROTTR and The order for this gen as some more standouts.

Even so they're still unreliable just like metacritic. Im not defending No Mans Sky btw.

My honest opinion, regardless of my opinion about the whole thing is that No Man's Sky is a very divisive game and we will have people talking shit about the game and the other half are loving the game, so the internet "war" is bigger.

The only way to try to keep the games industry on a reasonable straight and narrow is to call them on their shit.

But if people are hating for the sake of hating, then they need to be called on their shit.

Nah its pretty par for the course. Every generation has its bad and broken games. Its just that its WAY more vocal now with social media and all.

Yeah, social media probably makes it stand out more like everything else that seems vocal than days of yore.

Sometimes I miss game magazines.

I hated Star Fox Zero and it's god awful control scheme.... Justified bad reviews IMO

Sean Murray lied about a lot of shit that would be in the game, plus a lot of people are finding that what is there just isn't all that good. I'd say the hate is plenty justified.

Some people like the game without being in love with it.

Im having fun it it but there are things I'd like to see added.  I don't feel the need to jump on the devs because it actually has what they said and showed it to have.

That said, bases and giant ships would be pretty cool.  Maybe hire the guy who did destiny's fps mechanics and improve that aspect as well.
