I always knew Wii Sports was a flop, cannot even outsell GTAV and Minecraft.

We all know the comparison isn't fair but, that's not the point.

This is just a fun comparison between 3 of the best selling games ever. It's not meant to be fair.

Minecraft is on everything, Wii sports bundled and gta V on a number of successful platforms.

Fact is gta V is winning this comparison when the odds are against it in the alligned periods.

Imo it's the most impressive seller ever. What a fucking beast. And you can tell by the graph it ain't slowing down. Can't believe this will probably get to 100m. And you can bet it gets re-released on next gen PS5/X2 aswell.

GTA V is such a monster. They all are in their own ways, but it's my favorite among these games.

So you are comparing something only on the wii to something that is on everything BUT the wii.

You are comparing something that cost nothing and was bundled with every wii, to something that is fairly cheap(and gets much cheaper) to something that was a full price $60 dollar game.

They have no consoles in common. They have no game type in common. They vary wildly in cost.

You are basically comparing watermelons, to a banana, to a piece of cake.

Aside from being able to eat them - they have little in common.

You are totally right, but.....FUN!

I still think that it is unfair to include Wii Sports in this comparison.

It's not unfair, it's factually incorrect. Wii Sports may be owned by that many people, but it didn't SELL that many copies...

It's hard to say how many copies Wii Sports would have sold if not bundled. The game is obviously a big reason why casuals latched onto the Wii in such large numbers initially (killer app etc etc).

We actually have some data, not good data, but we can have an idea about how well Wii Sports would have sold if it wasn't bundled. In Japan it wasn't bundled and still sold around 4 million. A third of the owners of the Wii there bought it as a standalone game. So the data we have hints ithat it wasn't bundled it would have sold for around a third to a fourth of the install base. Around 25~30 million.

Edit:Actually my guess was pretty good. Wii Sports Resorts sold 32 million, a third of Wii install base too.

I don't have a problem with Wii Sports being in a comparison like this because for many, it was THE thing that sold them on the Wii. Also, the other games being on so many platforms evens the playing field. Lastly, it's just a fun comparison.

GTA V has also been bundled both with PS3 and PS4 (Not sure if it was bundled with 360 and ONE).

That is what I was about to say.  Sure not everyone bought a Wii because of Wii Sports but Wii Sports did in fact sell a lot of consoles.  It was a system seller and without Wii Sports the Wii probably would have sold far less.  People always try to downplay Wii Sports but Wii Sports was a system seller.  It had its glory years but the market was gone to care for Wii Sports on Wii U.  I have yet to even pick it up on the Wii U but perhaps will give it a go this holiday season.

1) The comparation was made by Daniel, is not from me.

2) Is fun to see that you guys really don't get what is the sense of those charts, fair or not unfair...
