Yeah I've said this a few times, but realistically the casual gamers who downloaded POGO in their droves are not the sort of gamer how is going to basically Beta Test a game like this, the concept of having to restart a game 10+ times during a trip out to play it would just instantly turn off casual players who don't know about restarting apps or turning something off then on again.
Was such a wasted oppertunity to launch the game in the state that it was in, I doubt there will be another chance to rope in so many non Pokemon players into a game like this for some time again.

I'm playing it lightly and enjoying. However, there are some things that can, and most likely will, drive some people off pretty fast:
- It's a massive battery killer. Really. I have a 3600 mAh battery on my phone and it just kills it faster than anything. People need their phone.
- You have to keep the screen on all the time, with the app open or it doesn't do s***. It's not very confortable to do it and it makes the previous point worse. Why couldn't it run a lightweight service on background and notify me of new Pokémon? It could actually make people that stopped playing come back to the app.
- It's won't run on a lot of mid-end devices. If you have anything like a Moto G3 or Galaxy J5 or worse, the game won't run that well. It's just a simple map with a 3D character walking. I don't have idea why it is so demanding. The combination of a heavy app + GPS + 4G also makes phones get pretty hot. Before anyone says "buy a better phone" for these people, not everyone can afford a high end device. And nowadays, they really aren't much worth it anyways. If we were talking about a complex 3D game, ok, you need a good phone. But this is just a damn map, it's basically Google Maps (that actually has a better 3D view with real 3D building) with a boy/girl walking on it. It's extremely badly optimized.
- Uses a lot of RAM. It would be a no issue, but on phones with 2GB of RAM, if you minimize it and opens the browser or Facebook, it ends up kicked out of memory and you have to restart the game. It wouldn't be an issue, but...
- Takes too long to open the app. Easily 30 seconds or more. And you have to reopen it almost each time you minimize it.
- Hacks/cheats. When the game launched in Brazil, most gyms were already occupied by players at level 20-30 with Pokémon with 2000 to 3000 cp. In a few hours after launch. Fake GPS could really ruin the game completely. This is priority n. 1.
I like the game, I like the concept. And I'll keep playing. I'm not a "hardcore" Go player that will go out just to play it, but I always play a bit when going out. But I recognize that this kind of issues may start driving people off once the novelty wear a bit and they could be easily fixed. It will make a ton of cash anyway, but fixing this stuff can make them way more.
