PS4 worldwide shipments top 43.5 million

Sony expects to move 20 million units by March 2017.

PlayStation 4 has surpassed 43.5 million consoles shipped worldwide, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Q1 Fiscal Year 2016 financial results reveal.  

In May, Sony announced that it had sold through 40 million consoles to consumers, which is less than two months after the company reached 40 million units shipped, so PlayStation 4 will likely meet 43.5 million sales in the near future.

Sony also confirmed that it expects to sell-in 20 million PlayStation 4s through the end of its fiscal 2016 on March 30, 2017. So far it has sold 3.5 million (compared to three million at the same period last year), meaning it needs to sell 16.5 million more units to achieve its goal.

At 43,5m units sold,... depending on how close VGC is with its tracking, PS4 could have just doubled the XB1?

Its shipped, not sold...



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Insane sales for PlayStation. Great to see and much deserved. By the end of next year it will be pushing 60m and the ps3/360 totals will be in sight.
