Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Miyamoto Says sorry for zelda Botw delays, he expected it to be out in 2015.

Next up, Zelda: Sea of Stars coming to NX and NX2 in 2021 2022 2023.

Better than Ubisoft and EA's excuses for a game- infected with glitches, day 1 patches, and loads of DLC

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Seeing the gameplay the past few days I get the feeling that the development was subject to feature creep. The game is looking amazing so I think it was well worth them taking longer than expected.

I'm not buying this excuse. No more fake apologies, I want a reward for buying a trash console that didn't get the support you promised.

Sounds like they are so far behind in hardware, they are having difficulties with current gen software coding and are now having to play a bit of catch up.

The real problem I think is that the Zelda team was not the size or structure required for this. People have pointed out that Bethesda pushes out open worlds much faster, averaging 3 to 4 years. But they've been at that and ONLY that since the 90s. The Zelda team has not. No doubt the strain on resources was greater than anticipated and played a large part in the delays and other problems. And yeah, a complex physics engine can be killer to work with but the end result is worth it and the items that work with the physics like the runes are super cool.

I would rather a delayed game that's great over a rushed game that's average.

I'd rather a game that's very good and a follow up building off what they learned and perfecting the formula over nothing for 5 years.

From what I've seen the physics engine is one of the better ones I've witnessed in a game of this kind. Hopefully it'll be quicker going forward as they've developed it now, seems like it could be reused.

Right from the source:

“Also, when we thought about developing a Zelda game for the NX, it would have to be way further down the life cycle of the system,” he continued. “And this game, rather than really focusing on the unique features of the Wii U, it’s really a game you sit down and get into. There was a change in direction, so we decided to develop for both consoles a while ago.”

People actually beleive this???  Seriously?? and it just so happens they are going to have the game ready just in time for the NX launch window!  Wow what a coincidence

Their excuse at the time they originally announced the delay was they made an amazing discovery of a gameplay  mechanic in the game that would make it GREAT-  As if they were originally were going to release a so so Zelda game till said discovery

It is obvious what the discovery was-  it was they had to rip ot the gamepad use in the Wii U version so it would not overshadow the NX verson in any way

Nintendo =  "leave luck to Heavan but the lying to Us"
