Eh I wouldn't exactly say they are exactly struggling in the Japanese market. The 3DS makes up the lions share of the market and this is just the size of the market these days. Plus the 3DS is in a bit of a dry patch right now. Once YW3 hits it will give the 3DS a bit of momentum until S&M comes out. Wii U though is a different story.

I am curious about when will PS4 hardware surpass WiiU in Japan?Maybe next month? or at the end of June?

I didn't but I just don't see those as moving hardware. Really, at this point the 3DS is close to its saturation point, barely any game can move hardware at this point, realistically YW3 and Pokemon S/M are the only ones left to help the 3DS to pass PS2 sales in Japan.

I'd say most of its sales are from people rebuying the console because theirs broke or kids who are just now old enough to get a console.  NX probably should be out by now.

Yep imo thats quite obvious now. Glad it still managed to beat the PSP with over 20mil given the circumstances that affected it. Maybe another MH game can give it a boost like last year's MHX. Since they advertise it where buying the NEW 3DS will have new features/improvements.

It's strange though because the DS launched when it's predecessor was still hot,  the 3DS launched while the DS was still hot and one of the game boys too.  

 

Now we have a full year of the 3DS not doing huge numbers before the next one launches.  You can really feel the slowdown.
