I just wish people stop saying that nobody cares...
I care! I know people who care! We aren't nobody.
Despite that, I respect people's opinion and I understand why some people is uncomfortable with 3D :)

The 3d screen is the worst thing about the 3ds. The resolution on this thing is shameful.
Let's go back to a normal screen. With a 720p resolution, and let s just use the eyetracking and gyroscope to simulate a 3d effect.
I switched off the 3D immediately on the 3DS and never used it again, so please no, it was quite bad

In a world where VR is supposed to be the future and PC monitors can't have 3D output a NXDS with 3D output might very well be the cheap choice for those who want to see gameplays in 3D, also given that 3DS already contains a gyroscope it could work well with 360° videos aswell !!
Yerm said: i wouldnt care either way. i barely use the 3D anyways as it drains the battery faster. |
^ this.
For anyone who thinks yes, I have to break it to you all, 3D is not a gimmick that works for home purposes. 3D TVs are a failed experiment, and the 3DS is the worst selling Nintendo handheld line, proving that the gimmick is still not a smart investment since it obviously didn't do anything for sales. People like 3D on massive screens in movie theaters; it doesn't seem to have much of a place in the everyday home.
Nintendo is better off ditching it and spending the money saved from using the special 3D capable screens on better, more capable tech in general. Holding back their hardware again with a relatively unimpressive and unnecessary gimmick would be a really, really dumb idea, especially given the very mixed public reception to the idea as a whole. Honestly, I would prefer it if they ditched the dual screen set up too and simply settled for one bigger, higher quality screen from the start, but Nintendo seems pretty attached to the dual screen set up at this point.
I love the 3D on the 3DS, I always have it turned on at max. But to be honest it's not exactly helping Nintendo sell more systems. So I guess they'll drop it. Especially if handheld and home console play the same software - why waste precious resources on a 3D effect if your goal is to develop a game once for both systems with minimal effort?
I'd much rather that extra processing power went into Lew compromised handheld versions of games.
I couldn't imagine playing some games without the 3D. Really good for immersion.
And it helps in a few games, like 3D land or Pushmo. What I would miss is the "outside" 3D effect. I really like it on my ambassador, some games like Cave Story abuse of that effect and it's great!
