GT Sport doesn't need a beta. If they did one, it would just be a glorfied demo. The time it would take them to create a beta build can be better spent actually working on the game.
If the final game is bug-free and have enough content, no problem for me. I don't want them expeding to much time on GTS because I also want GT7.

Despite PD being a bit underwhelming in these last few years, how much they cost isn't relevant. Profit is. GT5 had a budget of 60 millions, but they actually 4 million copies just for the Prologue. That probably paid more than half of the budget alone. They didn't cost more than 100 millions last gen while selling around 20M copies of their games. Even if we considered an average retail price of 20 dollars (around 10 profit), and that's a pretty terrible and low guess, that's 200M.
Criticising them for their budget is the same thing that saying that 2K should close Rockstar North because they needed a 200M budget to make GTA V.
Even if their recent games were criticized, the sales were there. Criticism doesn't always translates directly to performance. The new CoD is being shredded by the "internet gamers", but it won't matter much if the game still sells 20M copies anyway.
Cancelling the beta because it would delay the game?
I hope we all agree thats a BS excuse. I imagine it has more to do about their confidence in the product, perhaps the beta needs polish. But just an assumption.

It sure is, and since I didn't buy any of the other beta's (Prologues). I'm totally going to skip this one also.

GT6 sold x2.5 times as much as Driveclub on a last gen system near the very end of its circle, why should Sony fire their oldest and most profitable studio in their posession?
