I hereby retract this statement.
After eight episodes into this season it has become abundantly clear that D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are utterly incompetent without George R.R. Martin's work to guide them. The dialogue is awful, the pacing is beyond awful, characters reappear left and right after long hiatuses just to be killed off needlessly, plot holes pile up as the story grows increasingly ridiculous and to top it all off there has never been a season more monotonous and predictable than this one. Everything about it feels cheap.
This series is beyond redemption.
