The last years of the N64 were much worse.

Eh not really.

1999 -Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini, Star Wars Episode 1 Racer, Pokemon Stadium, Pokemon Snap, Ogre Battle 64, NBA Courtside 2, Griffey Slugfest

2000 - Zelda: Majora's Mask, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Tooie, Ridge Racer 64, Excitebike 64, Mario Tennis, Kirby 64, Starcraft 64

2001- Conker's Bad Fur Day, Paper Mario

2001 was bad, but 2001 also had both the GBA and GCN launches, so kinda hard to say that was a bad time for Nintendo fans.

I'd say '99 was a bit of a weak year, but 2000 was outstanding, barring Nintendo's bizarre decision to not bring Sin & Punishment to the West.

For me as a european who only got three (!) games in 2001 (a very bad rpg, a Tony Hawk game and Conker, none of them interested me (yes, not even Conker)) and a Gamecube that released on May 3th 2002, I can fairly say that 2001 was very bad. Much worse than 2016.

EDIT: Yeah, Paper Mario came that year. Still.

you could have imported Starcraft 64 from Australia same format, PAL

Wii's 2012 was dog poop, but kinda expected as the 3DS was the focus and Wii U also launched that year.

2011 was OK mostly on the strength of three games -- Zelda: Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, and Kirby.

This year looks worse because the second half of the year is almost completely barren, but that's largely because NX was likely supposed to launch in November.

I don't think Nintendo intended for it to work out this way, if the NX was slated for March 2017 from the get go (which is a stupid date to purposely target in the first place), they surely would have made some provisions for some better software for Wii U holiday 2016 and avoid this embarrassing E3 as well.

2005-2006 were pretty dark days to be a Ninty fan until the Wii and Zelda TP finally came out.  GC was pretty much dead after RE4, and the first year or so of the DS's life was pretty underwhelming until the DS Lite and NSMB came out in the spring of '06.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Eh, I dunno, RE4 is arguably the best game on the GameCube.

2005 (GameCube) -

Resident Evil 4, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Fire Emblem, Geist, Star Fox Assault, Battallion Wars

2005 (DS) -

Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World, Yoshi Touch N' Go, Kirby Canvas Curse, Nintendogs, Brain Training

Lots to buy if you're a Nintendo fan.

And in the first place they would have not promised 2016 for Zelda. This is as you suggest a last minute delay. Wonder if 3 months is enough to fix the problems. Thinking about it, Zelda is just 2017 and considering I don't believe Nintendo anymore, they could delay NX to holiday 2017.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

i am not a nintendo fan but it was never such a bad time to be a only a nintendo console owner. The view games left for the Wii U in a dried up ocean are getting even censored on top of that, its a spit to the face to every nintendo fan.

I don't think every fan thinks that way though. I certainly don't. The censorship? That's their problem to deal with if the ESRB rating and their image is concerned. I don't know how ESRB judges a game's rating so I'll leave that to those who have either worked there before or know any insider info about how they rate games. The droughts? Sure there's some, just mostly on Wii U because they could only do so much as they share time between 3DS and Wii U. I'm not trying to give them passes, but Nintendo had their work cut out for them this gen as games and hardware are more complicated and expensive and time consuming. In the end though, I have a lot of games that I still didn't even start yet. I look forward to Tokyo Mirage Sessions and FE Fates once I get those games. Should I be nitpicking  censorship of it doesn't affect my overall view of the game? No.

But that's just me :P

I would be pretty confident that if you were a big fan of the Nintendo Trading cards back in 1960 when they moved away from that market and aimed at Taxis and Love Hotels.... that would have been a bad time to be a Nintendo fan, or even worse if you were a parent of the Nintendo brand then, now you have to tell a kid to get a PS4/X1 instead of going to the NX for more game choices, imagine having to sit your kid down and explain that the company which had been making your favourite card collection were now running a love shack lol.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Nintendo's 2016 lineup is one of their worst ever. I'm a HUGE Nintendo fan and I'm literally only interested in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, Pokemon, Bravely Second, and Twilight Princess HD.

We also know next to nothing about Nintendo's 2017 plans except for Zelda NX.

So not only do we have a sparse lineup this year, but we also have to deal with an incredible amount of uncertainty. The NX could stun us with a fantastic lineup...or it could be even worse than the Wii U. The problem with today's Nintendo is we really don't know how the NX is going to turn out.

This is a really bad time to be a Nintendo fan. It's one of the worst years to be a Nintendo fan, that's for sure. 1995 is another really shitty time to be a Nintendo fan because the Nintendo 64 + Pokemon wasn't out yet and Nintendo devoted pretty much all of their first-party efforts (outside of a few star titles like Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island) towards the failed Virtual Boy. I hated that thing so much. This is pretty much on-par with the 1995 era.

This is a really shitty situation to be in as a Nintendo fan. It's one of the worst years to be a Nintendo fan, that's for sure. 1994-1995 is another really shitty time to be a Nintendo fan because the Nintendo 64 + Pokemon wasn't out yet and Nintendo devoted pretty much all of their first-party efforts (outside of a few star titles like Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Super Metroid) towards the failed Virtual Boy. I hated that thing so much. This is pretty much on-par with the 1995 era.

1994-95 was awesome ...

Donkey Kong Country 1&2, Killer Instinct, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Super Metroid, Super Punch-Out, Super Mario RPG, Ken Griffey Jr. MLB, and great third party games like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Super Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat 2 (with blood!), Megaman X2, Megaman 7, Castlevania X, etc.

Virtual Boy sucked but generally that period had some of the most memorable Nintendo games ever.

Unfortunately there were a bunch of late gen SNES projects like Comanche, FX Fighter, and Star Fox 2 that got canned because of the N64.

Being told theres no games for 11 months then they expect you to buy a new console, yeah its never been this bad.
