Just like the XB1 (I don't know about the PS4) is 4k ready, yet can't play any games in it natively?

 

Edit: I didn't read the article. By why would I bother anyway?



Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

4K ready similarly to the PS4K being 4K ready means nothing. You'll never see any game at that resolution outside of indies and media. Another marketing label when it comes out.

Seems like hubub anyways.

Sorry, I don't see a 4k standard  for two more generations (if consoles still even exist then as they do now.)

I see it being similar to how things were between the 7th and 8th generations. Sony and Microsoft boasted 1080p in the 7th generation, but really only a few games used it, and they weren't demanding games at that. It wasn't until this generation that more demanding games used 1080p resolutions, but even then we see games with sub-1080p resolutions. Next generation 1080p will be a standard with some less-demanding games rendering at native 4k. Then in the 10th generation we'll see a lot of games rendering at 4k, but not all of them.
