Lol this is so fake Windows is no longer the most popular OS and hadn't been for quite some time.
Linux based OS are by far percentage wise the most popular OS among users worldwide.

Steam just doesn't run on the most popular OS.

Steam is a PC gaming market place, its showing the primary OS used with Steam.

Nothing more.

Yeah, it also shows the developers how much of the Steam audience they would reach / lose with specific requirements. A DX12-only game (64-bit) could now reach 37% of the Steam users, so around 50 - 60 million PCs. A DX12-only game with additional 32-bit-support could now reach 39%... these 2% are probably not worth the effort, many AAA-games expect a 64-bit OS nowadays.  A DX11-game (64-bit) could now reach 85% of the Steam users and a DX11-game with additional 32-bit-support could now reach 95%of the Steam audience.

Of course these are only the software requirements, the hardware requirements can shrink the target group additionally.

Windows 10 has around 14% market share, not even close to 37%. The adoption rate is probably highter for gamers, but its highly inaccurate.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

It is nice to see it is the 64 bit win 10 that is growing so fast as well. The quicker we can bury 32 bit the better. CPU's don't surprise me but was a little surprised that 8GB RAM is now so common, especially given the amount of people that still run on laptops or older machines (hence that lowly 1GB Vram).

yep, which is a pretty damn impressive adoption rate so far, already outnumbers all other non MS desktops market share combined. Should see that accelerate farely rapidly over the next 1-2 years as corporates come on board, replacing win 7.

Huh?  You think win10 is one of the worst OS?

It is near the end of the end....

Whoa there are a lot of weird resolutions in that survey, but surprising that 1080p is only at 36% while the rest is pretty much below that. 1.5% at 1440p and 0.08% at 4K.

Why is there no info on DX12 cards?

Well a large percentage of Steam users have low end PCs. You don't need a powerful computer to run the most popular Steam games.

I mean you only need to spend like $60 on a video card for those games playable. $100 if you want them to run really well.

It's such a shame that the majority of gamers have to rely on such a soulless, mass produced, glitch filled OS. I really wish there were options.
