Forums - Sony - PSVR Bundle Sells Out Within 4 Minutes On Amazon

Could it just be that maybe there are people that actually want this thing?

But why ¯_(ツ)_/¯

They should stop and think for a while, interrupting the shiny-new-thing-craving, and realize that VR is clearly going to lack quality gaming content and 99% consist of showcases that'll get old after 5 minutes because there are hardly any type of "proper games" that can be made for it. This VR birth is kinda like the very first transition from 2D to 3D where 3D was "cool" as a new thing but sucked for a long time until proper 3D games could be made that could actually stand next to the 2D games. Problem here being bigger cause unless some geniuses manage SAO-like VR-diving in a few years, it's never going to get better.

Sony themselves haven't really showed anything that looks like a game other than Rigs, which looks okay at best. So they're basically marketing an expensive device with ONE game and interactive trailers (VR Worlds + other such things), does make you wonder if the people pre-ordering are looking for anything other than that initial novelty feeling before they shelve it for the rest of the generation.

I honestly see smartphone vr keeping Sony from capturing the casual market. Sony will of course dominate VR gaming core market no doubt. Would have been interested in seeing a "Wii like" boost mixed with Sony home console legs. Could have seen our first 200 million selling device if vr hits like motion controls but has legs to go with it.

It takes a while to acclimatise to some VR experiences. Many devs have to bring in strangers to test their games because their team have got used to the game while making it and can no longer see the potential problems. It wouldn't be wise to put out lots of games that are demanding of you time and so obviously the best thing to do is sell the 'experience' first, get as many in the wild as possible, give those people time to acclimatise and then hit them with games like No Man's Sky.

Fantastic news. This PSVR could really be the next big fad. Good signs so far :)

It needs to be more than a fad.

Yeah but being a fad will help it get the foothold that it requires. If it becomes a fad it will gain the public exposure we want it to have :D

but why is being a fad a good thing for sony, when it was considered a bad thing for Nintendo :O

60hz is not the greatest experience, but you pay for what you get. It can atleast, run every single game you wish when connected to your PC with TrinusVR.

So all you need, is a micro-usb cable, your smartphone, and a plastic headset (ranging from 10$ for plastic ones to 100$ for GearVR)

Like I said, mobile VR will be the only mainstream VR way for a few years now, the others are way to expensive for the general public.

The PSVR/Oculus Rift/HTC Vive will only sell for the hardcore gamers, for bussniesses that use VR for simulation, and for game developers.

Almost every PSVR game is running at 60fps reprojected. London heist, Battlezone and RIGS These are the ones i can confirm with source links if needed but im sure there are many others if not 90% of the games shown off so far. These games are all 60fps and i have never seen a negative opinion about them by people who have tryed them. These 3 are actualy regarded as the best demos for the PSVR.

In my opinion, the reason why Sony have spread the shipments so thinly across several retailers is because the first roll out are considered demo units. This first phase is all about spreading the shipments as wide as possible so that those people can show their friends, families and neighbours. The first wave will be all about the new experience and creating strong word of mouth.

Lol, Kinda a non-story. We don't know how much Amazon had but one thing is for certain, it was an extremely small amount. People are putting too much stock into this... Yes that was a bad pun.

Sounds like you are trying to convince yourself and not the rest if us. Kinect and no other peripheral sold out period.

Don't see how it is a fad when it works with movies and core games and still uses a regular controller unlike Nintendo. Also third parties are supporting it. That is a difference as it is technology that can grow and improve games. Nothing Nintendo created has done that.
