No, that's egalitarian, feminism is about the rights of women.

Feminism: giving women the same rights as men.  (Which is logically equivalent to what he said.)

Egalitarian: Ensuring equality for all people.  (This can be used for a deeper kind of equality.)

They can be used differently, and he's not wrong on his usage.

Considering that everyone who has posted so far has felt the need to specify that they support equality rather than just 'feminism' that's obviously not true. Regardless of what it used to mean or was intended to mean, things change over time. Although the fact that it comes from the word 'feminine' would imply that it was only ever concerned with women in the first place anyway.

It's not really a different meaning, it's just a group of people trying to take it too far.

Just because people have associated a negative meaning to feminism, doesn't exactly change the meaning.

The reason why I disagree with your analysis of the term is that every time someone tries to talk about men's issues, where they do have less rights than women, they're not called feminists, are they?  They're called MRA's and demonized.  In theory, your definition works out, in practice, it doesn't.

It's kinda like the difference between "half full" and "half empty."  They kind of mean the same thing and they don't.

The glass is half full if you're filling it.

The glass is half empty if you're emptying it.  Even though at that moment in time they are both exactly the same.  Even though the glass is the same, the act is different.

They're called feminists if they're trying to equalize by giving women rights.

If a man is trying to get a right, women have; they are not feminists. Even though they are doing the same thing, the act is different because they are for different groups of people.

Not really sure you can assume that, without asking them, can you?  Are we just incapable of having compassion and consideration for...two things at once?   I may not have a great view on the current state of feminism, but I still believe in equality.  And yes, that means for both women and men.

I didn't mean that they had to be one or the other, I just mean we wouldn't call them feminists because of what they are doing with male rights.  They would be feminists for other reasons.

Then I don't see how you can say it means equal rights for men and women.  It means equal rights for women.  When it can show consideration for both genders, then I'll be happy to change my view on it.  But, not presently.

To be honest, I don't really know what feminism actually means.

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

I hate politics, scapegoating is like a common thing. There is always blame on something else (which is always generalised), even the issues are made by themselves. That is what has the world has become.

I think it's sad that we still need it.

the basics and the foundations of feminism is agree with

social media regressive left feminism on the other hand........
